Broken Vows and Hidden Truths

Chapter 1

"She had no idea that the man she loved, and the husband she had vowed to spend the rest of her life with, was ...... with another woman ......"

Emily Shaw's mind reeled, wishing it was all just a dream. She stumbled out the door, as if she had lost all consciousness, and, not noticing the threshold under her feet, fell to the ground.

"Ma'am!" said Mrs. Harris, who had just finished trimming the tree, and rushed forward to help Emily.

Emily came back to her senses, gritted her teeth, thought a lot, and felt a bitter mood.

Mrs. Harris followed Emily's gaze and seemed to understand, but she kept quiet, pushing her hand away, her pale face feeling the pain of her heart, but she held back her tears, not wanting Mrs. Harris to see her in a state of distress.

"Shut the door!" Her voice trembled, her heart stung like a knife, Emily clenched her teeth, her confused thoughts felt like a jumble.

Mrs. Harris frowned painfully, and gently drew the door closed, shutting out the full color of the room. But the sound of panting inside the door would not go away, and she was embarrassed.

"This is something that must not be divulged!"

The afterglow of the setting sun splashed on Emily's face, which was devoid of any blood color. She tilted her head up, and crystallized tears glittered in her ink-like pupils. She clearly heard the voice inside, which made the pride and dignity she was holding on to instantly crumble.

......

A blue Porsche sped through the hustle and bustle of the street, Emily pressed the gas pedal to the floor, and a hooter sounded around her.

The evening breeze of early fall brought a hint of coldness, crossing her beautiful cheeks like a knife cutting pain, but still not compared to the pain in her heart. In her blurred vision, the shopping malls seem to have lost their sense of reality, Emily held back her tears, and the bitterness in her throat spread to her chest like a wave.

During the sixty seconds she waited at the red light, it was rush hour, and Emily took a deep breath after scanning the long queue of cars, turned the corner and drove into the side street, heading towards the Midnight Bar.

"Midnight Bar, the famous South Side bar that became a mecca for lonely men and women who wanted to let their souls and bodies go after dusk, pushed open the crystal doors to the sound of music and screams, and raised her eyebrows slightly as she walked around the dance floor and sat at the bar.

At the same time, Emily's arrival drew numerous unwanted stares.

She ordered a highball Whisky, and after a couple of drinks, her cheeks flushed slightly, making her look particularly attractive.

"One more!" She shouted relentlessly.

When the fourth glass is at the end, Emily pushes away the empty glass, holding her chin, eyes half-drunk, the wine stains on her lips are charming, as if she is the beautiful siren in the red lights.

"You're drunk, have a drink."

Suddenly, a thin and hoarse voice rang in her ears, Emily frowned with dissatisfaction, and her hazel eyes glanced at the man in front of the bar who moved fluently. His fingers were long and slender, and he was flipping glasses in his hands like a bartender. "Have some milk, it's good for your stomach ......" He put two slices of orange into a glass of milked wine, stirred the slightly white liquid, and lifted his deep eyes to survey Emily, who seemed a bit confused.

"I don't want it!" Emily glared at him angrily, tapping her slender fingers on the bar with a muffled, feeble thud.

"I'm drunk? I'm not drunk, you're lying to me!" Her voice was slurred, but it made Victor froze slightly, staring at her scarlet face with complicated eyes.

"If I'm drunk, why does it still hurt so much?" Emily lowered her head, her soft and silky hair spilled down, blocking the hint of pain on her cheek.

Chapter 2

She raised her hand and covered her heart, and the look made the man freeze for a moment.Emily Shaw put down her glass and staggered toward the crowd on the dance floor, but she hadn't taken more than a few steps when her legs suddenly gave out and she fell toward the ground.

Ethan Mitchell instinctively tried to help her, but Emily braced herself against a nearby pillar, smiled bitterly, shook her head, and staggered toward the door of the bar.

Emily's consciousness was so blurred and confused that she didn't notice several men in suits walking not far from her. The one in front of her was wearing a silver customized suit, his features were carved like jade, his temperament was elegant, and he exuded a noble atmosphere between his hands and feet, which was intimidating to people.

"Michael, the development project in the southern suburbs looks quite promising, what do you think?" Jacob Stern stepped forward and asked suspiciously.

"I suspect there's a problem within the project, and the investment is significant, so it's important to be careful and make sure everything is in order." Michael Gallagher frowned slightly, flicked his shoulders, and a cold and indifferent voice came out from his lips, as if it was a piece of heavenly music.

Jacob froze, thinking slowly, and realized that Michael hadn't said a word when he was looking at the development, so it seemed that there was indeed another secret! How dare you try to get in Gallagher's good graces?

"Michael, where are you going? The master's side ...... You have been back for so long ......"

"Organize the information and send it to me, I will go back to Gallagher Manor later. "The man's face was expressionless, and before his words fell, he walked towards the inside, just as he entered the door, he saw a figure staggering and crashing over.

Michael's pace stopped, the accompanying team also stopped, the man's brow slightly screwed up, dark eyes staring at the person who came.Emily staggered into his arms, the smell of alcohol and a burst of peppermint came to the surface, but unexpectedly smelled good.Michael froze for a moment, surprisingly, let this woman jumped into his embrace... ...

Emily has been half-drunk, blurred vision, before the eyes of people and shadows interlacing, the sky and the earth, a not sure, the body lost balance and leaned forward. She thought she was going to be in close contact with the ground, but accidentally crashed into a solid but cold embrace.

"Ouch!" Emily rubbed her nose, trying to break free from the man's embrace, but because of the weakness of her whole body, she struggled several times in vain, but still to no avail.

"Ouch ......" her slender fingers in the man's body feebly tugging, drunken eyes how can not see the man's appearance.

"Didn't you say you want to divorce me, what are you still here for ......I told you ......I stopped loving you a long time ago!" She unconsciously mumbled, tone broken, mixed with crying, red swollen cheeks full of tearstains, black as the night sky like eyes masked a layer of water mist, slightly open lips.

"I am not sad at all, is not cheating, you come out of the closet I do not feel sad ......"

Michael's eyebrows slightly raised, want to push her away, but only touched her shoulder, Emily but grabbed his hand, disgruntled rant: "Do not move!"

Michael's face instantly sank, the pair of eyes as deep as the lake swept through a trace of imperceptible fluctuations, seems to be measuring, but also seems to be skeptical looking at her.

Chapter 3

"Why don't you say something? Come on, how much?"

Seeing Michael Gallagher's lack of response, Emily Shaw lifted her face buried in his chest, her tone seeming extra bold.

Michael Gallagher's face even more gloomy, the light in his eyes meticulously measured the woman, while Emily Shaw did not seem to notice, feel out his own bag, "I ...... I do have money, give you five thousand dollars well ......"

Her words just fell, and suddenly turned her head to look at him, "Cash or credit card?"

This sentence is simple but shocking, as if to make the surrounding people froze.

Jacob Stern's eyes were wide open, the expression on his face could be described as horrified, Emily Shaw, this woman who suddenly appeared, simply turned his worldview upside down!

"Cash or credit card?"

Just when everyone was shocked, the original silent Michael Gallagher suddenly laughed out softly, seemed to be recalling Emily Shaw's words, the pair of usually dark eyes flashed a light, thin lips slightly up, with a few points of rare mirth.

Jacob Stern watched incredulously as the man who had always been so aloof, who had always kept people away, raised his hand and grabbed Emily Shaw's wrist.

The nerve of the little woman, it was interesting.

Whether it was unintentional or not, he had to admit, she had piqued his interest. Five thousand dollars? Is she paying for herself?

But Michael Gallagher's heir apparent, for five thousand dollars? Isn't that a bargain?

He lowered his eyes, the light hit his thick eyelashes, casting a faint silhouette, deep black eyes looking down at the little woman in his arms, reached out to wipe away the corner of her eyes have not dried tears.

His hand was cool, but her skin was as warm as charcoal, and the moment he touched it, Emily Shaw involuntarily shivered.

Her eyes were filled with tears, and she looked at him with a dizzying vision, the hair at her temples wet with tears and plastered to her thin, parted lips in a way that would have made any man feel sorry for her. Even Michael Gallagher.

The little woman in his arms was in tears, like a wounded beast, longing for an embrace that he could rely on, and for a moment he could not bear to leave her in this place full of danger.

"Bring the car around." Michael Gallagher ordered in a cold tone, turning his head sideways.

Jacob Stern froze, froze for a long moment until he was sure he wasn't dreaming, and then answered sharply, running toward the parking lot.

What was wrong with Michael today?

His heart was full of doubts, especially when he drove out and saw Michael Gallagher holding that woman, completely shocked in place.

He was dumbfounded that Michael Gallagher, who was usually not close to women, would pick up a strange woman? Oh, my God! The image was too much for his heart to bear ......

Michael Gallagher held Emily Shaw in his arms, and walked towards the expensive black Maybach in front of the astonished gazes of the crowd.

After carefully helping her into the car, Michael Gallagher also followed into the car, his bodyguards also drilled into the limousine around the Maybach, and left the Midnight Bar in a grand manner.

"Michael, are you ...... going to take her back to Gallagher Manor?" hesitated for a moment, Jacob Stern asked cautiously.

If the old man saw Michael bring back this inexplicable woman, I'm afraid to set off a bloody storm.

Chapter 4

"Go to the Riverside Villa, and, in addition, don't notify the Old Man of my return," Michael Gallagher raised his head, glanced out the window, and slowly gave his instructions, and Jacob Stern's hanging heart was finally released.

With a sigh of relief, he started the engine and sped towards Riverside Villa.

Riverside is Southport's famous rich neighborhood, people who can go in and out of here are all billionaires, or the rich and famous, and Michael Gallagher bought an Italian-style luxury villa here a year ago.

The black Maybach parked in front of an Italian-style mansion, the fence at the entrance was covered with green creepers, and the air was filled with the scent of late summer gardenias that had already withered.

"Mr. Gallagher, here we are." Jacob knocked on the glass window of the backseat, pulling the door open for Michael Gallagher, but couldn't help but glance over at the small woman sleeping soundly close to Michael.

Emily Shaw's face was still flushed from her drunken stupor, pressed against the man's slightly open shirt, her pink lips slightly parted, murmuring every now and then in a way that made it hard to take your eyes off her.

The car door was pulled open, a gust of evening wind blew in, Emily couldn't help but shiver a little, deeper into Michael's arms, like a curled up kitten, in this cool as water in the night for a trace of warmth.

She didn't realize how dangerous her unintentional action was.

Michael Gallagher frowned slightly, unconsciously tightening his grip on the woman, a burning sensation in his chest.

Silently, as if ignoring Jacob's surprised expression, he took off his jacket and draped it over the small woman, then got out of the car and picked her up in his arms, striding toward the villa.

Jacob rubbed his eyes, having followed Michael for so long, this was the first time he had learned that Michael, who had always been as cold as ice, would show such a sweet side?

Michael Gallagher walked along the cobblestone path to the bronze-colored front door, and before he could get close enough, a maid came and opened the door just in time.

"Mr. Gallagher ......" The servants were shocked to see Emily in Michael's arms, but still stood respectfully on either side. The spacious living room was as neat and tidy as ever.

Michael Gallagher changed his shoes, embraced the little woman in his arms, passed the servants, and walked firmly upstairs.

At the corner of the hallway, he stopped abruptly and ordered coldly: "Make a Lemonade."

The servant in charge nodded his head and answered busily, "Yes, Mr. Gallagher."

Only then did Michael turn around, disappearing from the servants' sight.

He laid Emily down on the large white bed, and years later, he still couldn't understand why he had taken in such a drunken woman.

Shortly afterward, the door slammed and Mrs. Harris came in with a bowl of Lemonade. Michael sat on the couch and watched as Mrs. Harris fed it to Emily in small bites.

But every time the bowl reached Emily's mouth, she shied away, waving her small, feeble hands restlessly, as if she didn't like the taste.

"I don't want it! It smells ......" Emily's willow eyebrows wrinkled, turned over, chiffon white dress was lifted up to the waist, exposing two long white and slender legs, making people reverie constantly.

Michael's breathing suddenly tightened, his eyes flashed with a ghostly fire, pulled his tie, only to feel his body gradually getting hot.

"Mr. Gallagher, you see ......Miss Shaw she won't ......me ...... "Mrs. Harris repeated several times, could not make Emily swallow a bite, looked quite difficult.

Chapter 5

Even though the marriage had come to an end, it still ended in such a bad way.

"Ethan? "Michael Gallagher frowned slightly, then raised his deep dark eyes, his fiery gaze falling on Emily Shaw as if to see right through her, "Is that why you went to the bar to get drunk?"

At those words, Emily froze, and then realized, her proud attitude had been indulged by a man? And a cheating asshole at that? It was something she was ashamed of, and now it was happening to her.

Her mind drifted back to the first time she'd met Ethan Mitchell, more than ten years ago. He'd followed her uncle around, wearing a white-washed denim shirt, but he hadn't been timid at all. The boy's features hadn't yet grown, but Emily couldn't help but fall in love with him from the first moment she laid eyes on him.

In order to match him, she entered the entertainment industry at all costs, enduring countless storms to get to where she is today. However, just when she thought she could finally walk side by side with the man she loved, all of it was actually a false bubble!

She never understood why he married her in the first place if he didn't have feelings for her.

Emily's eyes flickered, the watery mist under her eyes was dense, I do not know whether it was because of self-pity or self-deprecation. "My business has nothing to do with you." She turned her face away, said coldly.

Obviously Michael's words touched her hurt, he looked at the bed slightly trembling little woman, deep as a pool of water in the eyes unconsciously surged a ripple. This woman, really stubborn.

"Well ......" from the left side of the face of the hot and spicy pain so that she could not help but stifle a grunt, looking at this seemingly weak man, in fact, the force is not small.

Michael slightly frowned, and then loosened, complexly looked at Emily a glance, raised his hand will be bedding fishing up, gently covered in her body.

This time, Emily obediently did not resist, and felt a warmth in her heart, looking sideways at him, but the other party had already turned around, walking towards the restroom with his long and slender legs.

Soon after, the sound of the shower came, and Emily fell onto the bed, feeling a splitting headache, and the only thing in her head was that Ethan had cheated on her!

Even if he didn't love him, he should at least understand that Emily's family had been kind to him for many years.

Emily's heart like pins and needles like pain, pale lips, let out a weak cold laugh. She never thought that the man who claimed to love her forever would treat her like this!

For so many years, all the warmth and promises, I'm afraid they are all illusions!

......

After Michael finished his shower, he opened the door of the bathroom cabinet and found that Emily had already disappeared, and only her heavy breathing echoed in the silent bedroom.

Wrapped only in a towel, exposing his brown, toned upper body, he wiped his hair and looked over at the woman curled up in a ball on the bed.

As he watched, he couldn't help but laugh out loud. This silly woman, really too bold, no matter where, can sleep so peacefully.

The night is getting thicker and thicker, it is the time when the midnight and the dawn meet, Michael extinguished the lights in the room, turned around and went downstairs. He just came back a few days ago, there are still a lot of things to be solved, the overwhelming project is even more anxious, he must deal with everything in the shortest possible time.

"Michael, the master asked me to ask you, when will you come back? Also ...... your marriage with Emily Shaw, also urged you several times."
