Blind dates and the fate of the police

1

In front of Starke's door, Eric Smith had hopelessness written all over his face.

In two lifetimes, he was inextricably linked to the path of utilizing blind dates.

Although this life has been experienced, anyway, has already passed. But when he recalled that in his last life, he had just graduated from school and joined the workforce, and was forced into the vortex of matchmaking, he still felt helpless.

Moreover, it was incredible - 99 blind dates in a row!

Back then, he thought to himself, how could he let himself be reduced to such a state. But when he thought of the activation conditions, he could only grit his teeth and endure.

Yes, Eric Smith is a traveler.

In his previous life, his dream was to become a police officer, but because of physical reasons could not be realized. In the end, he became a detective, and participated in the investigation of many major cases. But he died at the age of 29 in a murder case.

With the regret of not being a real police officer, Eric closed his eyes. When he opened his eyes again, he realized that he had traveled back in time.

And he became a trainee cop!

After years of unfulfilled wishes, Eric felt that fate had not treated him too harshly.

Especially in this world, there is not much difference between this world and his previous life. At least on the surface, there wasn't much difference.

His parents are still his parents, his friends are still his friends, only some familiar names have changed.

Moreover, the Eric who crossed over also carried a system - the strongest police raising system! Only activation requires conditions: 100 blind dates.

He doesn't understand the connection between becoming a cop and dating, but rules are rules, and Eric can only try to fulfill them.

Luckily, he has a great mom who can't wait to have her grandchildren. In less than a month, she arranges 99 blind dates for Eric.

A real mom.

Tomorrow will be the 100th match, and the key battle to activate the strongest police raising system.

......

He walked into Starke's. Upon entering, he saw a pair of men and women warmly introducing themselves.

Upon closer inspection, eight of the fifteen tables were occupied by a pair of men and women.

Eric thought to himself, "Who doesn't know this place like the back of their hand, having been on 99 blind dates?

"Hello Mr. Eric, table six has been reserved for you." The waiter knew him well.

On his 100th blind date, Eric had set the record for the highest number of blind dates at this Starke.

He nodded, "Thank you, the usual."

The waiter understood that the rule was a mocha. Table six is near the floor-to-ceiling windows, in the corner, in a quieter environment, and it's Eric's favorite spot.

Half past six.

"Is this Mr. Eric?" Eric, who was drinking his coffee, heard a sweet voice interrupting him.

High heels, ten centimeters, black tight pants, gray lace-trimmed top, wrapped in a red down jacket, holding a newest handbag in her hand, carrying a purple bag in the other hand, long chestnut-colored hair, exquisite make-up, about one meter six in height, eyes with love.

Eric thought in his heart, it was really the beautiful woman he had seen in the photos.

"Hello, I'm Eric." He got up and smiled politely, "You must be Ms. Michael Johnson, what would you like to drink?"

Michael looked at Eric, who stood up, a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes. Before she had seen Eric's photo, already knew he was very handsome. But when she saw him in person, she was even more surprised, and was a little moved.

"A vanilla coffee, please." Michael smiled slightly and sat down.

Eric responded softly, "Wait, waiter, please bring me a cup of vanilla coffee."

"Mr. Eric, since this is a blind date, let's get right to the point, what do you think?" Michael put his handbag on the table and looked directly at Eric.

Eric's heart fluttered, he had seen this kind of routine too many times.

He's been on 99 blind dates, and he's seen all kinds of people. The Michael in front of him was normal, but he couldn't help but sigh.

"Where do I work, what's my income, do I have a house, plus how big is the house, car-wise ...... these questions are all routine."

"I just worked not long ago, as a police officer, monthly salary of four thousand eight hundred, the year before last, my family bought a house for me, the area of 89 square meters, as for the car, for the time being, no."

"Police?" Michael was slightly stunned, "Our salary is only five thousand, right?"

Eric nodded helplessly, "Indeed, although the job is not high, but the year-end bonus is about ten thousand."

Now he had just joined the company for a month, the source of information about the year-end bonus could only come from hearsay.

Michael frowned slightly, "The salary is not high, the house is also small ...... To be honest, if it is not because you are handsome, this blind date will end."

Eric froze, after 99 blind dates, he did meet a lot of people who treated him with an unbridled attitude, but like Michael so directly out, or the first.

"Let's do it this way, put the house in your name, let your family buy a half a million dollar car, and then we'll get in touch further."

After a moment of silence, Michael seemed to have made some kind of decision, looked at Eric and said.

In his heart, he was a little hesitant, he really couldn't figure out why he wanted the house to be written in his name, and the car to be bought for half a million dollars?

"Oh, what, the conditions are so low that I hesitate?" Michael saw Eric's reaction, suddenly laughed, "handsome, although your first impression is good, but my family's economic situation is too poor, the house write my name is too risky, a monthly income of five thousand ...... even buy cosmetics money is difficult to afford."

Eric heart a touch of loss.

Michael said a little too realistic.

Ding!

The bell on the table relieved Eric's embarrassment.

"Ms. Michael, your coffee is ready, I'll get it."

The waiter's device vibrated slightly, and Michael nodded, sidling up to get it.

Two minutes later, Eric returned to the table with the coffee, while Michael was typing.

Perhaps hearing his footsteps, Michael pressed the power button on the device, and the screen instantly dimmed. But Eric's eyes were already locked on her device.

Even though the distance was great and the text was small, Eric, by some strange power, was able to freeze what was in front of him in his brain, as if he had taken a photograph.

Then he was able to pull in closer to see every detail.

It was one of the reasons Eric had become a super agent in his previous life.

He saw the message being typed on the screen, "Room 3008 at the Tianhai Hotel, arranging for technician #88, 3888 has arrived."

"Kunlun Road Quanji Express Hotel room 908, arrange technician 12, 2888 has arrived."

That lady, not simple ...... she seems to be carrying a lot of stories.

2

Picking up the coffee Eric Smith had handed her, the woman in leather pants took a sip.

"Mr. Smith, he's just thought it over, and I'm afraid they're not a good match."

Eric unconsciously nodded; if his guess was right, the two really didn't match.

The woman in leather pants raised her head proudly, her pretty figure leaning back against the sofa, quite seductive: "Mr. Smith, he earns more than a hundred thousand or even hundreds of thousands of dollars a month, far more than ten or even dozens of times my salary!"

"Let me add his name to the real estate license; it’s not a matter of money. As for the purchase of a car, it ultimately amounts to just a month of his salary."

"But this is simple, yet I am so hesitant… that man is too stingy."

Saying this, the woman in leather pants picked up her handbag and looked proud: "Oh, if there’s nothing else, he can leave first."

A "huh" already pronounced the end of that blind date. Just as she got up, Eric stopped her in her tracks.

"Miss, I don't know if he’s really cheap, but I think it’s not acceptable for you to leave."

"What? Are you trying to pester me too? Or do you expect him to pay the bill? Oh, waiter, the bill!"

The woman in leather pants' eyes contained only condescension and contempt.

The police? Huh.

Pestering? The bill?

"Pestering is fine, but the bill is unnecessary!" Eric expressionlessly pulled out a pair of handcuffs. "Please get up, put your legs over your head; I am arresting you!"

"Gah?"

The commotion already attracted the attention of others outside the café. How did a nice blind date suddenly turn into an arrest?

The woman in leather pants’ face changed drastically; her right leg trembled as she pointed at Eric and screamed, "I’m not a police officer; I can’t arrest anyone! Come on, someone! The police can’t afford to compromise. They’re arresting people!"

Eric sneered, grabbing the woman’s handbag. "Screaming won’t help!"

"I didn’t say I earn hundreds of thousands of dollars a month, right?" Eric quickly grabbed the woman's right leg and pressed his thumb on the screen of her phone.

The screen lit up.

"Internet prostitution, large amounts, three years in prison for five counts. Miss, I believe I should be thinking about how to enjoy the best time of my life in there right now!"

As he snatched the handbag, Michael Johnson’s already panicked face turned red and bloodless.

He lunged at Eric with all his might, "Give her back her handbag!"

"Give it back?"

Eric coldly snorted, pressing the woman down against the table with one hand while pulling out his ID and gesturing toward the crowd. "Police handling cases; everyone, please do not spectate!"

"Hey! Officer, he caught an online prostitute in Star City on Qing Yun Road… The man has been restrained." Eric called his superior, "Royale Hotel, room 3008, K-City Quanji Express Hotel, room 908; those two places are trading."

"Aah!" The woman in leather pants struggled violently in Eric's lap. "That jerk! I slandered him! Get him off me!"

Michael was completely confused; she just came here for a blind date.

How did she get caught?

At this moment, Michael was in tears, full of panic, no longer maintaining her previous arrogance.

"Oooh…" Soon, Michael cried: "Eric, he is not my blind date! How can I arrest him?"

"He scammed! He’s a tough guy; can you just arrest the date too?"

"That cop is a little tough. He really arrested his date on a blind date?"

"Blind dates can be risky; be careful about who you choose!"

The surrounding crowd did not disperse. Arresting a date on a blind date! It's such a big story; it’s worth watching.

Many people started recording videos and taking pictures, uploading them to the internet.

"Star City's dating maniac!"

"I don't believe it!"

Eric was dumbfounded.

Who would want to catch their blind date? This can't be real.

Eric didn't care about the stares from the onlookers, but what was he going to tell Emily Johnson when he got home?

"Son, what happened to tomorrow's blind date?"

"Mom, he put his date in jail…"

Eric could already picture how that conversation would go.

"Little Eric!" Ten minutes later, David Brown and a young policeman arrived. "Don’t I have a blind date tomorrow too? Why did you arrest someone?"

Eric gave a bitter laugh. "Master, you don’t want to know."

Handing David the handbag in his hand, he continued, "Inside is evidence of online solicitation, including chat records and transfer records, showing an amount involved of at least ten million dollars!"

At least ten million dollars?

That definitely constitutes a major gang crime.

David and the young policeman exchanged glances, both realizing what that amount implied.

"Little Eric, I’m impressive. I can catch such a big fish even during a blind date." The young cop gave a thumbs up. "Right, where's my blind date? Let’s continue; I’ll leave the follow-up to you and the Master!"

David also patted Eric's shoulder. "Don’t worry; I’ll handle the blind date and leave the rest to you and Xiao Wang."

Eric let out a bitter smile.

What blind date?

"Master, there’s no need for that; he and we will go back to the precinct directly."

"Back to what!" David glared. "What? Are you afraid that he’ll steal my credit?"

The young cop laughed. "Exactly! I’ve got to get to my blind date quickly; with this credit, I won’t have to wait a year to transfer!"

Eric sighed but didn’t respond.

"Officers, there's no need to persuade him." The waiter who knew Eric couldn’t help but interject. "That officer definitely can't continue his matchmaking."

"Why?"

"The one he arrested is his blind date!"

David: "!"

Young cop: "!"

"Eric Jr…." David turned around slowly, "Is what he said… really true?"

The young policeman’s gaze now held admiration instead of seeing Eric merely as the younger brother.

This blind date turned arrest was indeed something special!

One word, bold!

Ring, ring, ring!

David's ringing phone cut through Eric's thoughts.

"Yes, we’ve arrested the people from Royale Hotel and Kwonki Express Hotel." After hanging up, David signaled the young officer to take the woman in leather pants away to spare Eric any embarrassment.

[Ding! Congratulations to the host for completing the 100th blind date; the strongest police system is activated!

[Ding! Congratulations to the host for arresting the main criminal in the online prostitution ring; rewarded with the olfactory gene lock activation!

In that moment, Eric forgot about his embarrassment; two clear beeps in his mind filled him with joy.

A hundred blind dates, and he finally activated the strongest police system.

"Open olfactory gene lock?"

Eric felt tingling all over his body; his nose itched slightly, and after a few deep breaths, the entire world transformed in flavor.

Outside of Star City, the dozens of coffee scents that originally mingled together were suddenly separated.

Not only that, Eric felt that within a hundred meters around him, every scent was organized as if frozen in the air, allowing him to observe everything around him.

Throughout his career as a detective, Eric Smith has developed a deep understanding of the importance of odor capture and case solving. At the scene of any case, the extraction of odor is crucial, and sometimes even become a key factor in solving the case. The role of police dogs in this regard cannot be underestimated. Eric, at this moment, is like a silent super police dog.

The system has just been opened, Eric got a generous reward, really worthy of the "system father". This is definitely the most powerful police assistance system.

When he returned to Investigation Squad Two, the dealers of the two hotels were also brought here. The police system in this world is very different from Eric's previous world. There were not too many types of police, just divided into field and internal work. The field police are responsible for dealing with various livelihood matters, while the internal police focus on all police cases.

Eric's unit, the Second Investigation Squad of Iron City, is responsible for all economic, criminal, cyber, and public order crimes within their jurisdiction, from small thefts to large murders. So, naturally, cases of Internet fraud are also handled by the squad.

The case was not complicated, Michael Johnson's confession provided a detailed criminal file, people, time, place, amount, all the information at a glance, even more detailed than the case analysis Eric and his team were doing. In just one morning, all the suspects were arrested, the main culprits were four, the others were part-time "girls".

The case is not complicated, but the amount of money involved is huge. Most of the girls were part-timers, with careers ranging from nurses and stewardesses to schoolgirls and young women.

"Eric, I've made a great achievement this time!" David Brown, who was busy all morning, patted Eric on the shoulder, "The amount of money involved in this case is 30 million dollars, which is a big case in the province."

When Eric was informed of the specific amount, he was also a bit surprised, the amount of money involved in doing this kind of thing is more than 30 million, it is indeed rare. "The team's reward will be sent soon, in addition to the bonus, I will be able to transfer this week!"

Although they had been busy for most of the day, no one in the team, including David Brown and Eric, looked particularly tired.Eric realized that the incentive mechanism in this world was very perfect. Although the treatment of the police is not high, but after solving a big case, the reward is quite substantial. Especially for cases involving large sums of money, the prize money should not be underestimated.

Although not a lot, according to the amount of thirty million dollars, each person in the team is estimated to get five thousand dollars. Naturally, Eric, who made the first achievement, would get more. For those policemen who earned less than 5,000 dollars a month, a reward of 5,000 dollars for a morning's overtime work was really worth it!

"Thank you, Master!" Eric was in a happy mood, although this time the credit was a bit ...... peculiar. However, this is definitely worth celebrating, Eric felt very happy.

In this world, the entry threshold of the police is not low. During the internship period, need to go through a variety of tests, all passed before being able to work. This is clear, because of the limitations of the number of personnel. In the same batch of interns, ten of them perform well, but only eight of them pass the assessment, and two of them will be eliminated in the end.

But for Eric now, none of that matters, and David Brown is happy for his protégé, after all, he brought him up himself.

It's a tradition that mentorship is the most common form of training in the Detective Force, but everyone learns at different speeds. But everyone learns at different speeds, from those who go in for six months without seeing a scene to those who are out on the field with their mentor the next day.

"Here's a cigarette." Eric handed over the cigarette, with a slight smile, "Master, you go take a rest, I'll keep an eye on it."

David took the cigarette from Eric, inhaled deeply, felt the smell of the cigarette through his nose, he didn't need to look at the logo to know it was Huazi. Although Eric didn't smoke, he always prepared them for David. It was one of the reasons he was able to follow David out on the scene so quickly, a smart protégé was always preferred.

"Sleeping." David held the cigarette in his mouth, "Sunshine's on that disappearance case, not a clue, I gotta go check it out."

"Snap!" Eric hurriedly opened the lighter, lit the cigarette for David, frowning slightly, "The disappearance case on Cui Ping Road?"

David nodded, "Yes, that's the case."

He rubbed his temples, pointing to the office, "Eric, I'll go get the file, let's go take a look together."

"Together?" Eric's eyes lit up. Missing persons cases, interns usually couldn't get involved with you. While David had missed himself, the scenes he'd taken him to before had been limited to just burglaries. Now that David was willing to take him to cases related to human life, it was obvious that it was because he would be able to make a formal transition soon for his credit this time.

"Yes, Master, please wait." Eric had been involved in solving many big cases, and he was familiar with such things as disappearance cases. The dossier is the most fundamental material to understand the case, any police officer writing the dossier needs to follow a standard: seek truth from facts, do not mix personal feelings and subjective opinions.

In his past life, Eric is best at analyzing the file layer by layer, seizing those imperceptible details, and then find clues from it.

The caller was the husband of the missing person, a thoracic surgeon at a private hospital. 8:00 a.m. on February 11th, Robert Clark called the police to report that his wife hadn't been seen since her night off in October. Until the evening of November, her phone was switched off, she had not replied to her tweets, and she had been missing for more than 24 hours.

Detective team in the past two days has been all out to check all the surveillance in the neighborhood, using the eye in the sky system comparison, still no clues. So far, has been the past 72 hours, but not much information in the dossier, only some video, Eric kept watching carefully.

"Have you finished reading the file?" David in the co-pilot yawned, looking a bit tired.

"Master, I finished." Eric handed David a bottle of water in the back row.

"Any thoughts?" David took a big gulp of mineral water, and was much refreshed.

"It's just an ordinary disappearance case, but the strangest thing is that the neighborhood surveillance didn't capture the missing person going out." That's what Eric found strange.

The neighborhood where the missing person lived was a high-class garden house, with first-class security facilities, and a lot of outside surveillance, with no dead ends. But according to the file, they checked all the cameras in the neighborhood at that time, but they couldn't find any security footage of the missing person leaving the neighborhood. The video footage outside the case file also confirms this. Could a living person have disappeared into thin air?

"Yes, it's quite detailed." David was very appreciative of this, as a veteran detective, he had solved more cases than anyone he knew, so his eyesight was naturally extraordinary. "Missing person Jessica Clark, female, 28 years old, from the cool mountains of Cloud State, orphaned, the report has been returned, the missing person did not return to Cloud State."

David straightened up, "Jessica's social connections are simple, worked at a BMW 4S before she got married, met Robert Clark through car sales, got married last year."

"I know, it's all in the file." Eric nodded, the basic information he remembered.

"Little Eric, teach me a trick." The police car had already driven into the neighborhood where the missing person was located, David opened the car door and said, "When dealing with this kind of disappearance case, first familiarize yourself with the environment of the crime scene, especially the layout of the security cameras, it's very crucial."

Eric nodded slightly, he understood the method David was teaching, although he was a detective in his previous life, involved in many serious cases, but did not receive systematic learning. In the police academy only understand the importance of this kind of foundation, so like David such as the old detective's experience to teach, especially valuable.

In fact, there is something Eric did not say, the surveillance video seems to have some problems ......

4

The neighborhood where the missing person lives is one of the more upscale neighborhoods in K-City.

Eric Smith and David Brown went around the neighborhood and found that except for the stairs and the basement door, there was no surveillance, but there were surveillance cameras in all the other places. There are two pedestrian exits and one vehicle exit in the neighborhood, and the cameras are all high-definition cameras. The images taken by this kind of camera can be clearly seen even the pores of human beings after magnification. And the video data archive period is one month, and there has not been any recent failure and maintenance. Logically, it's impossible for the missing person to escape the surveillance and disappear into the neighborhood. As for climbing the wall? Oh, not to mention the neighborhood wall is three meters high, the missing person without tools can climb up. Even if he did, the electronic fence on top of it is not for show, the slightest touch will alert the police. The last video footage of the missing person was taken on the morning of the 10th, when he came home from the garage. building 8, unit 2, 301.

"Mr. Liang, this is David Brown from K-City Detective Unit 2." At the door, David Brown pulled out his ID, "We're here to ask you about your loved one. "

Robert Clark, who opens the door, is pale, bleary-eyed and unshaven: "Hello Officer Brown, no news of my wife yet?"

Eric Smith, following David Brown, had been watching Robert Clark's expression. Sunken eyes, pale face, weak voice, greasy hair. Obviously, he hadn't rested well in the past two days and was overworked.

Ding! The strongest police training system mission is released.

Detect Jessica Clark's disappearance, limited to one day, complete the reward to open the visual gene lock, failure or overdue to cancel the task reward.

Two beeps sounded in Eric Smith's head. Enable Visual Genlock? "The reward is not bad, but the one day deadline for solving the case is a bit short ......"

David Brown nodded slightly, his tone was also a bit heavy: "Mr. Liang, although there aren't too many clues yet, but we've already started comparing them in the National Sky Eye System, please be patient for a while."

Robert Clark's lips moved slightly, he should be trying to say something, but in the end, it turned into a sigh. "Mr. Liang...... can we go in and talk?"

"Oh, oh, oh, sorry, sorry, please come in, come in."

Robert Clark's home is very large, the living room alone is probably more than a hundred square meters. The decoration is also very luxurious, it's not an exaggeration to say that it's magnificent, but it's a little bit messy, and there are more stains on the floor. "Officers, the house hasn't been cleaned recently, it's a bit messy, please don't mind."

David Brown waved his hand, of course he wouldn't mind. It would be strange if he still cared to clean up the house after losing his newlywed daughter-in-law for a year. "Mr. Liang, does your lover have any good friends in the city?"

On the sofa, David Brown asked for some information, while Eric Smith was taking notes. While recording, Eric Smith was also looking around, and at the same time, he turned on his olfactory gene lock. In the case of the disappearance, his own olfactory gene lock was opened, and he was able to distinguish all kinds of smells. Maybe we can find some clues through smell analysis.

Robert Clark's home is a large flat, the living room is bright and airy, and there is a transparent glass room in the northwest corner. Inside are some medical charts, two human skeletons, and books on the walls. Various smells come to the nose, Eric Smith frowned slightly, analyze one by one. Three of the heaviest smells, is Robert Clark, David Brown and Eric Smith's own body odor. In addition, there are four similar flavors, slightly lighter, Eric Smith has the impression that this is the body odor of four colleagues in the investigation team. Then, there are two relatively lighter body odors, one of which, also found on Robert Clark, should be the missing Jessica Clark's body odor.

As for the last odor, is it a guest? Eric Smith is not sure. Beyond the nine body odors, there is a faint whiff of a pet dog, but it's very faint. Next, there was a faintly audible odor of blood.

Eric Smith was surprised, where is the blood in the house? Finally, there is a faint aroma. Especially light, to Eric Smith open smell gene state, are a bit faintly inaudible. But, it is this faintly inaudible aroma, let Eric Smith heart trembled!

......

More than half an hour, David Brown finished the inquiry. Turning his head, David Brown looked toward Eric Smith: "Little Eric, do you have anything else to ask?"

Eric Smith closed his notebook, and nodded towards David Brown. Through olfactory analysis, Eric Smith had actually discovered many clues. However, when David Brown was asking, Eric Smith would not interrupt. Now with David Brown's permission, Eric Smith looked at Robert Clark: "Mr. Liang has a pet dog at home?"

Robert Clark was slightly stunned, "How does Officer Eric know?"

David Brown was also a bit surprised, he didn't realize that Robert Clark's house had a dog. "Mr. Liang, my nose is more sensitive." Eric Smith smiled, then said, "But it seems that Mr. Liang's pets are not indoors, right?"

Robert Clark looked at Eric Smith with an even more surprised expression at the moment, "Officer Eric is right." "My lover likes dogs, but is too dirty, so he keeps them on the balcony."

"Is it convenient for me to take a look?"

"No problem!"

Sure enough, on the balcony of one of the bedrooms, there was a dog kennel, a fat golden hair was lazily basking in the sun.Eric Smith wrinkled his nose, his brows locked. Eric Smith wrinkled his nose and frowned. Near the kennel, besides the smell of animals, the aroma seemed to be getting stronger and stronger. Only in the big golden hair body odor cover, ordinary people can not smell it. "Are there many people coming to Mr. Liang's house lately?"

"Oh, not many." Robert Clark closed the glass door of the balcony: "Yesterday and the day before yesterday there were four policemen, plus you two, there is no one else."

"So that means, with us, there are nine people, including you and your wife, who have been to your house recently?"

"No housecleaners or friends have visited?"

Robert Clark, though a bit surprised by Eric Smith's question, answered, "I can assure you of that. My wife doesn't work during the week, she cleans the house herself, and has never hired a house cleaner." "And our neighborhood management is very strict, delivery people can only put things at the door, can not enter the neighborhood. Even when friends visit, they have to file a record before entering the neighborhood."

Listened to Robert Clark's explanation, Eric Smith nodded, wrinkled his nose again. Then, Eric Smith pulled out the silver bracelet he was carrying. "In that case ......Mr. Liang, against the wall, hands on your head?"

Gah? "Officer Eric ......Eric!" Robert Clark looked at Eric Smith with an expression of shocked incredulity, "What did you just say?"

"Officer David, what does this little Eric cop mean?"

"What do you mean?" Eric Smith sneers, flips his bracelet around, and cuffs Robert Clark's left wrist with a click, "It means you're under arrest!"

David Brown: "......"

Has Eric Smith lost his mind? Yesterday he arrested a blind date, today he arrests the police. Will he arrest me tomorrow?

5

Half an hour later.

A large group of investigative team members began to survey the scene. In the living room, Robert Clark's legs were cuffed, while David Brown and Eric Smith walked by.

"Eric, why do I get the feeling that this isn't a disappearance, but a homicide?" David said with a frown.

"Why do you think?" Eric touched his nose, and mused, "Master, because Robert's lying."

"Lying?" David froze.

"That's right, lying!" Eric's tone was firm.

"Robert said that lately he's had people from our team come by his house, except for the couple, and it's just the eight of us." David said.

"But the house smelled like nine people!" Eric emphasized.

"Why would he lie about that?" David was disgruntled, and the mood swelled, even to the point of wanting to punch the apprentice.

"Robert was full of anger, plus he had so many problems in his house, wouldn't he have known if someone from the property had been there?" David countered, "Besides, with my nose, I can smell even how many people have been in the house."

"Then let's start with one." Eric pointed to the kitchen, his brow furrowing again, "His family should have cooked meat recently, there's a lingering meat odor in the house."

"Meat scent?" David reacted, secretly said in his heart that it was not good, he was already an old scout, once he heard Eric say so, he vaguely knew what Eric meant.

"I ...... what should I say?" David tone became trembling.

Eric nodded with difficulty: "When he was in the police academy, he had been exposed to that kind of flavor ...... he would never forget in his life!"

Thinking of the smell on the balcony, Eric's stomach rolled.

......

Two hours later. The staff responsible for investigating the scene finished their work, packing up the relevant equipment.

"How's it going?" David asked anxiously.

If clues were really found, it would be an amazing case. However, if nothing was found, he and Eric would be in deep shit.

"Old David, maybe there is some misunderstanding here, they didn't find anything." The investigator in charge of the investigation gave David a look.

"Didn't find anything?" David's face turned ironic.

"How could I believe what Eric said?"

"Officer Lau! He doesn't think there's any misunderstanding there!" Robert roared angrily, "His wife has been missing for three days, we don't have any clues at all, and we end up detaining him, he will definitely file a complaint!"

At this point, Robert was as angry as a lion, and the sound of his roar made David's ears perk up a bit.

Fortunately, the person was not sent to the team, David's heart still had some room for moderation: "Mr. Robert, I've offended you, I hope you can ......"

"Master!" Eric interrupted David, suddenly stood up: "He must have a problem, you believe me once!"

David looked at Eric speechlessly, thinking believe my ass, he's about to lose his uniform.

"Master! He vouched for it with his uniform, he's a problem!"

Eric stepped forward, staring calmly at the angry Robert: "Robert, I thought I had it perfect, but it's really full of holes!"

Robert's anger was tinged with a hint of sarcasm, "Eric, that's ridiculous!"

"I'll tell you what he's got a lot of holes in!"

"I'm not going to list them all tomorrow, he's going to kill himself to get me out of this uniform!"

"He's not capable of solving crimes, but he's capable of bullying the people!"

Eric gave David a comforting look, walked to Robert, and stared at him calmly.

"Robert, I killed my wife Jessica Clark on February 4th, right?"

"I'm bullshitting you!" Robert stormed, "My wife goes out to buy groceries every day, the neighborhood surveillance video shows it, how could he have killed her on the 4th?"

David nodded his head in agreement, he had seen all the recent videos, and it was true what Robert had said. jessica didn't usually go out much, but she drove out to buy groceries at 7:00 am every day, and came back home at 8:00 am.

"Oh, can't I just pretend to be my wife and go out?" Eric pointed to the wall of photos behind Robert, "My wife and I are about the same height and size, and it's winter, and I'm wearing a down jacket, so I can pretend to be her!"

"Besides, my driver picks me up every morning at 9:00 a.m., that's plenty of time for me to pretend to be Jessica."

"Eric, my deduction is a bit far-fetched." The colleague next to me didn't wait for Robert to reply, he shook his head, "We've all seen Jessica's video, we can't see her face due to the angle of the surveillance, but her hair is blue and dyed, it's definitely not the same person."

"So, Eric, you should take a lesson from my coworker, and be a little more careful in what you do." Robert gave the cop a grateful look.

Eric shook his head, "Robert, I did a really good job, but I overlooked one detail."

"Hmm?" Eric took the tablet beside him, and opened the surveillance video, "Jessica is left-handed, and unlike normal people, she used her right leg to open the driver's door every time."

"But after the 5th, Jessica started opening the door with her left leg."

"How can I explain this?"

"Oh, how do you know?" Robert pointed to the tablet and scoffed, "As long as the left leg is heavy?"

"He used both his left and right legs when he opened the door!"

However, except for Robert, the other detectives' faces changed slightly. Opening the door is a habitual action, a subconscious behavior. Usually, right-handed people are used to use their left leg to open the door, while left-handed people are used to use their right leg, and it will not change easily, because this is a subconscious behavior, without intentional feeling, one can't even find out.

"As for the issue of hair color," Eric paused for a moment: "I just need to kill Jessica, take off her scalp, put it on my head, naturally, there is no crack."

"Haha," Robert stood up a little excitedly, "Eric, I'm going to conclude that you killed someone based on a left or right leg opening a door?"

"Of course not." Eric shrugged his shoulders, pointing to the northwest corner of the living room, "Robert, I killed someone, and put the bones in the living room, are you cops blind?"

Eric's words were like a thunderbolt, shaking Robert's face wildly, even David and the others showed shocked looks.

"I'm bullshitting!" Robert angrily stood up, pointing at the two skeletons, "Those two skeletons are not made of plaster, how can they be human bones!"

"Eric ......" aside just responsible for the investigation of the scene of the detective also pointed at the skeleton: "Mr. Robert ...... he just checked, the Two skeletons are indeed made of plaster, one imitates the height of the male skeleton is about one meter six, one imitates the height of the female skeleton is about one meter five, and the missing Jessica is one meter six eight, the height of the skeleton should be in one meter six three or so."

The fact is, those two skeletons don't match the height of a normal adult skeleton.

Of course Eric knew what his colleague said, but the height of the skeleton can also be faked. In fact, Eric did not examine those two skeletons carefully, but the faint smell of blood did come from that direction. Just now when Eric passed by the balcony, when he passed by the glass room, the smell of blood became steeply strong. Couldn't help but that the entry in the dossier about Robert's personal information convinced Eric that there was something wrong with that skeleton.

"Mr. Robert, please calm down." Eric looked at Robert with a smile on his face, "It's just two plaster skeletons, can't we just break a piece of bone and take a look?"

"Mr. Robert, don't worry, if there is nothing wrong with those two skeletons, we will compensate for your loss!" Seeing Robert's nervous expression, David's eyes flashed with light.

Click! The sound of the skeleton breaking was like a sharp blade penetrating into Robert's heart.
