Beneath the Wedding Veil

Chapter 1

A vacant lot located in the suburbs, the atmosphere of bustle and busy filled, green grass on top of a veil and flowers, Ethan looked at the flowers as if climbing up from the ground, curling, blooming, seems to be calling: "Come, come to see me, come to appreciate my beautiful figure, gently touch my soft petals, taste my charming fragrance! ......"

Rows and rows of white tables and chairs are staggered, creating a cozy feeling, the tables are set with different sizes of cutlery, filled with colorful and fragrant food and wine, and around the tables are a group of well-dressed or flamboyant men and women.

It's easy to see that this is a wedding for a new couple, and at the entrance to the venue, and even in every corner, there are photos of the groom Ethan and the bride Olivia, holding hands, hugging, gazing at each other, and kissing. ...... Even more striking is the banner that hangs high: "Congratulations to the Groom: Mr. and Mrs. Olivia, and to the Groom: Mr. and Mrs. Olivia." Congratulations to Groom: Mr. David Turner, Bride: Miss Olivia Brooks on their wedding celebration!"

The groom, David, is Rachel's ex-boyfriend. They spent two years together in college, continued to date for two more years after graduation, and then were found to be cheating on each other, with the predictable result of going their separate ways. The other "boat", naturally, is the bride, Olivia, who was Rachel's roommate in college, not quite a BFF, but a fun and playful friend.

Lily took Rachel's hand, walked towards the wedding site with a firm step, although she wore thin high heels, but did not slow down her momentum, short dress in her movements swaying, as if in the blooming spring, so that people can not move away from the eyes, and even retreat.

If this kind of scenery appeared on a normal street, it would definitely attract a lot of eyes, or attract unsuspecting prying eyes. However, the contrast at this moment is not unrelated to Lily's aura and her fierce expression.

Lily was pulling Rachel's hand, leaning forward slightly, and with her striding posture and flaming eyes, she looked like "Godzilla" from a Japanese movie.

When the bystanders watched Lily and the girls approaching, the brain could not react in time, but the body reacted quickly and accurately, and they all retreated to Ethan's side, and they had to marvel at the instinct of human beings to avoid danger, which should not be underestimated.

Rachel, on the other hand, lowered her head and sighed silently, today has not remembered how many times. Although she didn't want to face the crowd around her, she still looked up from time to time and smiled at them, as if saying silently, "I'm sorry! I'm really sorry! ......"

However such gestures of goodwill didn't change the situation, and apparently Rachel realized that this was one of the reasons for her constant sighs.

It was the weekend, and she wanted to sleep in and make up for the past five days, but the heavens were against her. At 6:30 a.m., Lily's relentless phone calls woke Rachel from her dreams.

"Rachel? Hello? Rachel?" Lily shouted urgently on the other end of the line, not realizing that she had momentarily interrupted someone else's dream, or perhaps she had forgotten that at this moment in time, most people were still in dreamland.

"Hey ...... it's me, what's the emergency of calling so early in the morning?" Although Rachel was upset, she didn't want to care about the regret of having her beautiful morning ruined, instead she asked with some concern.

Chapter 2

"Urgent!?" Lily Evans was stunned for a second, then realized, and said excitedly, "It's urgent! Of course it's urgent! It's a big day for David and Olivia! It's not just an emergency, it's something very, very important!" In order to show the seriousness of the matter, she especially bit the words.

Since the cheating incident, David Turner and Olivia Brooks in Lily's mouth almost only last name, at first it is "bitch, dog man and woman, adulterous couple ......" these words, and then feel too vulgar. But Rachel Sullivan was there to reassure her that calling them names would only make her lose her dignity, and that it wasn't worth it.

Lily thought about it and thought it made sense. David and Olivia were already bad people, so why should she expose them? She was a refined and educated woman, and she couldn't let her image be tarnished by the despicable behavior of these two people. She was filled with anger, but she had no clear target for it.

"Oh." Rachel squeezed out the word with difficulty, not wanting to dampen Lily's enthusiasm, realizing that Lily was actually taking it out on herself, and that it was entirely because of her that she felt resentment.

Rachel didn't seem too devastated after the incident. When she learned the truth, she showed more surprise and helplessness, rather than like a crazy woman to find David. She calmed down for a few days and then chose to break up with David, no arguments, no tears, not even the slightest bit of drama, it was all so natural.

Of course, Rachel had cried and felt helpless, after all, their relationship was four years long. They had fallen in love and met in the simple place of college, where everything seemed so beautiful, regardless of background or interests. All this noise, when she was alone, ended in silence.

When Lily first learns of Rachel's decision, she strongly expresses her inability to understand, and repeatedly confronts David, as if she is the one who has been abandoned. Later on, it was Rachel's constant guidance that kept her from more extreme behavior, but the conflict between her and David, and Olivia deepened, and she spoke up for Rachel.

Rachel momentarily do not know how to explain to Lily, she actually does not care about David and Olivia's union, perhaps she has already seen it, or her love for David has long been worn out, or perhaps she has been numb, seen too much.

As a wholeheartedly devoted friend, Rachel couldn't say no, which led to the inevitable awkwardness of the day.

Maybe it was because she knew Rachel's character too well, Lily didn't feel that Rachel was shirking her responsibility, on the contrary, she tried even harder to say, "I'm heading to your place right now, if there's no traffic jam, I'll be there in thirty minutes, wait for me."

Hearing this, anyone would think that Lily was looking for revenge, and before Rachel had a chance to respond, Lily hung up the phone with a passion that didn't seem to be able to wait even a second.

Rachel realized that she couldn't escape, but she didn't get up right away, instead she rolled around under the covers, and after a few minutes she reluctantly sat up, stretched, and started to get dressed.

Chapter 3

Lily Evans rushes over, having actually spoken to Rachel a long time ago, even though it was a unilateral decision on Lily Evans' part. The original words were like this: "Yeah! This day collects! How dare those ill-intentioned couples, who have no idea what they're doing, come out in the open and make a racket?"

"This wedding is well known, do not they think their own scandal is not enough, have to let everyone know this man is how thin, this woman is how shameless!"

"Wait! Let them wait! How dare you send me an invitation? I really want to see how shameless they can be in front of everyone!"

......

Rachel's heart was also quite depressed. She had been fine, and hadn't thought about them for a long time. To her, David and Olivia were just strangers, and it was none of her business if they were getting married. Why did they have to send her an invitation?

But for Olivia, it wasn't that simple. Even though Olivia had taken David from Rachel, it was because she was weak, and even though she had gotten married, she often worried that someone would come along and take David away from her.

Unfortunately, Rachel was her number one suspect. Therefore, she had to invite Rachel to the wedding no matter what, so that Rachel can see how happy she is now, and how much David loves her. It must be said that women are both scary and pathetic when they are jealous, and Olivia doesn't even realize that her suspicious nature will one day turn her suspicions into reality.

Rachel didn't know Olivia's thoughts, and she couldn't have imagined that her own abandoned past would cause such a shock in another woman's heart. Even when someone tells her the truth, she wonders if they are a fool.

Lily Evans arrives thirty-five minutes after the call and gets busy, picking out Rachel's dress, accessorizing her jewelry, applying her makeup, and styling her hair in a way that would make anyone think it was Rachel who was getting married today.

For Lily Evans's good intentions, Rachel has tried to refuse: "just to participate in the wedding? Is it necessary to make it so grand?" In fact, the heart is a little weak, but also unconsciously "huh" laugh a few times.

Lily Evans didn't care what she said, knowing that Rachel had a soft heart, but she didn't like what that couple was doing. "Now that they've invited you to the wedding, you're going to have to dress up and show that heartless man that you're better off without him!" Lily Evans said with satisfaction while applying blush.

Rachel couldn't help but think, "She can't be a fairy no matter how she dresses up." But she wouldn't dare let Lily Evans hear that, or she'd be nagged by her. Which was why she sat there and let the money flow.

Rachel had been extremely cooperative, and it had taken Lily Evans over three hours to get her all dressed up, and then she'd kept dragging her towards the wedding.

And that's when it got weird, like it was about to get messy. As they neared the entrance to the venue, the giggles of the guests became more and more audible, and Rachel knew what kind of speculation Lily Evans might cause if she kept up her current fierce demeanor. There were already a lot of curious people staring at them.

Chapter 4

Rachel Sullivan's other hand also clutched Lily Evans' arm, holding it in place like a heavy weight, preventing her from moving on.

Lily Evans was literally being dragged by her, and asked with a mixture of displeasure and curiosity, "What's the matter? Why are you stopping? We're almost there!"

Rachel gasped and whispered, "The others are watching us!"

"So what? You can look if you want to! I'm not doing anything wrong!" Lily looked rather smug, her voice loud as if she was deliberately trying to be heard by everyone around her.

Lily tried to move on, but Rachel held her back. She turned around and heard Rachel say, "David and the others did me wrong, but we can't be like them! We can't be like them! What they are, we are!"

"If they dare to bully us again, then I won't be nice to them, not to mention you. But we haven't even seen them yet, and they're acting like they're trying to collect a debt, so it's easy for those who don't know the truth to misunderstand them."

See Lily began to waver, Rachel added a few points of strength: "We are the victims, can not end up instead of their own bad luck, this is not cheap David them? Wouldn't this be more in line with their wishes? How not worth it!"

At this time, Lily nodded slightly, seems to realize, she will not lose this thing, but also cheaper than the enemy, she will not allow this to happen.

And Rachel's words "what quality they have, what quality we have!" has deeply impressed Lily, to be good friends not only need to get along with each other, but also need to understand each other's needs.

Rachel's few words convinced Lily, she immediately let go of Rachel's hand, straightened her back, and solemnly straightened her dress and makeup, and then walked into the venue side by side with Rachel.

Even though she was more restrained, Lily still had a stern face that said, "Nobody messes with me!"

Rachel knew in her heart that she had done her best. Having a friend like that was exhausting at times, but she was glad for it.

Rachel finally made it through the beginning of the wedding without incident, although there were some snide remarks, but she didn't care about them, they were all irrelevant anyway, just listen to them.

But Lily is not like Rachel so tolerant, who want to come forward, that is a clear provocation, must be unconditional counterattack. As a result, Lily is now full of anger can not be released, despite her extraordinary fighting ability, but there are too many enemies.

Rachel was trying to calm her down so that she wouldn't cause any trouble. Even if she hadn't taken those words to heart, her mood had been affected. As a result, she was initially adamantly opposed to coming to the wedding, because she had expected something like this.

The wedding went very smoothly, with the bride and groom taking their vows with dignity, then exchanging rings with affection, and even a blushing kiss at the end.

Rachel thought it was about time, the references had been made, the people had been seen, the people had been heard, the people had been heard, and the people had been heard. She'd satisfied the public's curiosity and let Lily vent, so today's mission was accomplished, or at least qualified.

Chapter 5

While asking Lily's opinion, Rachel Sullivan suddenly senses something strange in the atmosphere, a darkness seeping in from behind, what's going on?

Rachel's heart tightened, feeling that it is not appropriate to stay here for a long time, not waiting for Lily to finish thinking, she grabbed Lily's hand tightly, wanting to escape.

But what is that truth, God will not easily let you get what you want!

"Rachel, it's really you! It's been so long! I almost thought I was mistaken!" Olivia Brooks walked slowly towards Rachel and the girls, and as if she knew Rachel was going to run away, Ethan called out to them.

Olivia was leading David Turner along with her, a happy and proud smile on her face, her long arms gently lifting the hem of her dress, her steps elegant and decent.

When Rachel heard Olivia's words, her body stiffened, she forgot to move, and her face instantly collapsed. Luckily, her back was turned to Olivia and David, otherwise she wouldn't have known how to react.

Lily saw Olivia and David one step earlier than Rachel, so she didn't move, on the contrary, she felt that this was a perfect timing, it was like God's help, I didn't expect that this bitch finally came, see how I'll fix you! Her eyes widened as she stared at the slowly approaching duo, as if she was worried they might take advantage of the situation to slip away.

Rachel took the opportunity to quickly adjust herself, turning around with a more natural expression. Before she could say anything, Olivia continued, "Really! It's been so long since we've heard from you, and I've been thinking about you. If it wasn't for the wedding, I really don't know when I'd see you again."

Olivia's voice was not loud, with a bit of a petulant tone, I don't know if it was intentional or not, the attention of the field was instantly focused on her, although not in a circle, almost everyone had their ears perked up, waiting for things to unfold.

Lily couldn't help herself, "Contact your ass! Miss us? You can't see us as good! You still have the nerve to pretend here, want to fight, sister I'm ready to accompany!"

Rachel pinches the back of Lily's hand, telling her not to be impulsive, then smiles at Olivia and says, "It's been a long time!"

"Happy wedding!" Rachel glanced at David, and said sincerely. She truly blessed David and Olivia, the hatred in the past had been ended, didn't she say that letting others off the hook was actually letting herself off the hook?

Olivia was expecting Rachel to contradict her, the more she angered Rachel, the happier she was, what she said just now was on purpose, she wanted to see Rachel make a fool out of herself in front of the crowd, to show David how bad Rachel was, she couldn't be compared to her at all.

Rachel seems to ignore her, Olivia can't think of anything else to say, Rachel this is really out of her expectation, let her think for a while words can't be used.

"How have you been?" David suddenly spoke up just as everyone was feeling awkward.

Olivia was instantly offended, but she didn't dare to show too much in front of so many people, her face was obviously much colder. She knew she was right, Rachel, the vixen, had hit on her man at her wedding!
