Game in the Shadows

Chapter 1

Inside a luxury villa, the lights are shining brightly, outside the sports cars shuttle endlessly, a group of handsome men and women dressed in gorgeous clothes are talking warmly between the drinks, laughter bursts.

Elena and her companion looked at each other and walked into the crowd with a tray of wine, looking for the target of the evening.

"He's upstairs." Elena looked down the stairs and saw her target heading for the second floor, disappearing around the corner to her left.

Carrying a tray of wine, Elena walked slowly towards the stairs, briefly locking eyes with one of the bouncers, "There are more guests on the second floor, I'll go up and help."

The bouncer looked at Elena, then looked at the customers on the second floor, and finally let her go.

After wandering through the crowd, Elena and Raven silently approach the corner on the left, Raven walks into the first room and quietly opens the door, it's pitch black and eerily quiet, a stark contrast to the bustle of the outside world.

Raven looked around with his night-vision contact lenses on, and seeing nothing unusual, he simply went out, gestured to Elena, and moved on to the next room.

The door opened slowly, the room was still silent, and Raven saw his target on the bed, a wicked smile curling up at the corners of his mouth.

In the darkness, Raven walked slowly towards the room, and the mechanism on his bracelet was opened, revealing sharp and extremely thin needles that were ready to deal a fatal blow to the person on the bed. Arriving at the bedside, Raven raised an eyebrow, put away the concealed weapon, "ah~" yawned, lifted up the quilt and prepared to lie down on the bed.

In the darkness, the man watched everything with his eyes wide open, slowly removed his index finger from the gun, watched the woman lie down, and cried out in horror, "Ah~"

Lights instantly lit, Raven looked at the man on the bed, full of overwhelm, face suddenly pale, seems to finally slow down, panicked and rolled off the bed in one bone.

"Sir sorry, I did not know there is someone here, just busy all day, really too tired, want to take a lazy rest, please do not report me!"

"Oh~" the man raised his eyebrows, but his eyes never left Raven, "then why don't you rest in the first room?"

"The first room is too close to the guests, I'm afraid of being discovered, and I don't dare to go to the back room, on the one hand, I'm worried that I'll be discovered as a thief by the owner of the house, on the other hand, I can go back to work at any time, please don't report me, let me go!" Her body shook like a sieve, and her beautiful face was full of pity.

"Get up," the man's eyes are full of teasing, "want me to help you keep a secret is not impossible, but how do you want to repay me?"

"How do you ...... you want to return the favor?" Raven's face instantly turned white, trembling, asked.

"Come here." The man patted his thigh, his tone commanded without question.

Raven's body trembled, her head lowered as if hesitating, yet no one could see the cold smile at the corner of her mouth.

At the last second of the man's utter impatience, Raven slowly stood up, walked towards him, and shyly sat on his lap.

"What's your name?" The man picked Raven's chin.

Raven meets the man's eyes, all shy, and lowers her head, "My name is Susan."

"Rose for rose? ... "The man suddenly and violently grabbed Raven's hands, and threw her hard to the side, "But it's not good if the claws are too sharp." With that, he quickly raised his pistol and shot at Raven.

Raven didn't expect the man to be so alert, and was thrown out just as she opened the concealed weapon. She narrowly dodged the bullets, and found a hidden place, ready to look for an opportunity to assassinate.

"Heh, woman, do you think you can escape from here? I, Lucas, have been in the gangs for so long, how could I not know that someone has mixed in."

Listening to the sound of Lucas' footsteps as he walked towards her, Raven thought about how to exhaust the bullets in his hand, or just waste his hand. Looking around, Raven's eyes sank, staring alertly in Lucas's direction, quietly removing the ring on her hand ......

"Snap!"

The whole room darkened again, before Lucas could react, Raven quickly counterattacked. Only to see the dimly lit room, a figure of hers moved quickly to Lucas' side, and kicked him off.

Before Lucas could adjust to the darkness, he was kicked against the wall, which shook with the weight of his body.

Raven pursued her attack, running up to Lucas and slamming a sharp knife that popped out of the heel of her shoe into his hand, where he was holding the gun.

"Aah~" came the squeal of a pig, but it was drowned out by the clamor outside. In the dimly lit room, Lucas felt the stinging pain coming from his right hand, his hairs stood on end, and blood flowed out quickly like a black spring ......

Before he could react, the knife was pulled out, and Raven lunged viciously at Lucas's heart. Behind him is the wall, can not avoid, can only desperately use his left hand to grab the knife stabbed to the chest.

Not caring about the pain, Lucas gripped Raven's knife as hard as he could and pushed him away, at the same time taking the opportunity to stand up.

By the light of the window, he saw that his right hand was seriously injured, and it was a horrible sight to behold.

Lucas shifted his gaze to Raven, who was ready to take advantage of the opportunity to knock him down, and the remaining hatred in his eyes was like a fire of anger, making his eyes red. Looking at Raven running towards him, he swung his left hand into a tight fist and charged at her.

"Bitch!" Lucas cursed, and quickly wrestled with Raven. Although his right hand was badly injured, he still had the advantage in strength. However, Raven's sharp knife cut into his body again and again during the struggle, even though it was only a flesh wound, it was accompanied by severe pain, which made him pause, giving Raven a chance to strike.

"Let's see how bad you are this time!" After a few rounds, Lucas finally pinned Raven down.

Looking at the suppressed Raven, Lucas finally felt more comfortable in his heart, however, thinking of the shame she brought, he was still depressed in his heart.

Lucas used his left hand to tie Raven's hands and feet, then stood up, looked at the struggling woman warily, and slowly retreated towards the switch.

"Pop!"

The room lit up again, the blinding light causing the two men, just getting used to the darkness, to squint uncomfortably.

Once they had adjusted to the light, Lucas carefully examined his injured right hand, which was obviously unable to move freely, and even the slightest movement made him break out in a cold sweat.

The anger in his heart grew hotter and hotter as his eyes fell on his injured right hand, and his cold eyes locked onto Raven's body, wanting to make the other party pay for his blood.

But he wasn't going to do that, because he wanted Raven to slowly lose his life in fear, and that was the only way he was going to be able to get rid of his hatred.

Lucas raised his feet toward Raven, the sound of his shoes on the floor like a demon slowly rising from the ground was frightening.

"Woman, don't worry, I'll settle the score with you, I won't let you get away with it anytime soon, I'm the most patient with this one."

Lucas took the knife from Raven's shoe, and gently rubbed her cheek, as if he was wearing a hideous smile on his face.

Raven watched as she was placed in this game like prey, closing her eyes helplessly and waiting for death to come.

However, Lucas's evil intentions have made it impossible for her to live or die, and she has endured the damage that he has done.

After an unknown period of time, perhaps a few minutes, perhaps half an hour, Lucas was relieved of his anger.

He got up and sat down on the sofa next to her, quietly admiring all this, his heart growing more and more satisfied and relaxed.

"Hiss!"

Lucas momentarily forgot about the injury on his right hand, and went to reach for his wine glass out of habit, only to be awakened by the burning pain. He glared at Raven on the floor, his anger flared up again, but thinking of his right hand's injury, he decided to treat it first before dealing with her.

"Bring Dr. in."

Dialing the phone, hanging up after saying a simple sentence, Lucas lifted his wine glass, savoring the wine, but his eyes stared at the woman on the ground grimly.

Chapter 2

After hanging up the phone, Lucas walked leisurely toward Raven, staring at his finished masterpiece, his anger seemingly a little lighter.

Elena was watching outside, and when she realized that Raven had stayed in the second room for a long time, she was worried that she was in trouble. At that moment, Lucas's men brought Dr. Raven to this side in a hurry.

"It seems Lucas is in that room, and from the way things are going, he seems to have won, while Raven's life or death is still up in the air ......"

As the henchmen and Dr. got closer and closer, Elena's eyes swept over a drunken middle-aged man off to the side, and a thought struck her. While the henchmen and Dr. approached, she quickly opened the ring in her hand and shot a silver needle towards the middle-aged man.

The needle hit the man instantly, and his bulky body fell backward, right in front of Dr. and his men.

"What's going on? Can't you see that the guest is not feeling well? Why don't you hurry up and help!" Seeing this scene, the staff's brows were tightly locked, angrily shouting in Elena's direction.

"Sir, are you okay?" Elena pretended to be scared and ran towards the middle-aged man with her head down, asking with concern.

The middle-aged man turned around with great effort, and groaned, "It hurts, it hurts, it feels like I've been hit by something, come and take a look at me."

The subordinate saw more and more people gathered around him, all of them are some famous people, for him, these are partners and money laundering tools, he can not offend. But the boss was still waiting for him, so his eyes signaled Dr. to hurry up and check for the middle-aged man.

Dr. nodded and hurriedly lowered his body to check for the man, but because the middle-aged man was too fat, he fell on the ground making it difficult for Dr. to check. So, Dr. struggled to help the middle-aged man up.

Elena took the opportunity to help Dr. to help up the middle-aged man, when she was about to help up, she quietly pushed the weight of the middle-aged man to Dr. Dr. was not prepared, by the weight of the middle-aged man fell to the ground, the scene looks like a huge piece of fat pressed on him, very funny.

The surrounding people saw this, laughed out loud. dr. was so embarrassed that his face turned red: "Quickly move him away!"

The waiters heard rushed forward to help, but the middle-aged man is too heavy, several waiters struggled to help him up.

However, just when Dr. had not yet stood up, the middle-aged man fell down again with Elena's help, and directly pressed on Dr. on the side.

"Ouch, my waist!" The middle-aged man was caught off guard and fell, despite having Dr. as a meat cushion, due to him being too fat, this fall still caused Dr. to suffer serious injuries.

Dr. was even more inevitably hit hard, not only was his nose bleeding, but his arms were also fractured due to subconsciously bracing himself on the ground, and at this moment, he was lying on the ground, grimacing in pain.

"What are you all doing, let one of you can not help!" Seeing the situation, his temples jumped, veins bulging, full of anger. However, in order to solve the immediate problem as soon as possible, he could not kill people, after all, the presence of all the guests.

"Go, take these two gentlemen to the side to rest, and call Dr. to come and take a look." The man forced down his anger, and ordered the people around him.

"You, come with me." After settling the matter, the henchman picked up Dr.'s toolbox and pointed to a male waiter beside him and ordered.

The waiter was already intimidated by the strong man in front of him, and when he saw the toolbox, he knew that this was not a good job, and he trembled with fear: "Sir, I'm just a waiter serving tea and water, I don't know how to do medicine, and this is ......."

The staff had been bad face, instantly and cold down.

"Who follows me." He said in a cold voice to the side of a waitress, hard to say the question into a statement.

When the girls saw this, they all lowered their heads in fear, fearing of provoking the henchman.

"I, I will be a little trauma treatment, or ......" Elena timidly looked at the henchman, pretending to be a righteous look, "or, I go with you."

"Go." The henchman saw someone talking, roughly threw the medical kit to Elena, indicating that she went with him.

The other waitresses were happy to see Elena standing up for herself, but at the same time, they felt guilty and worried for Elena.

Elena gives the waitresses a comforting smile, picks up the medical kit at her feet and follows her men.

She entered the room after the subordinate, lowered her head to look around secretly, and heard the subordinate say respectfully, "Lucas, something happened to Dr. Henry, I've already instructed someone to find another Dr. to come in, and now I'm going to bandage your wounds first."

Lucas looked at the attendant in front of him warily, playing with the bloodstained sharp knife in his hand, and remained silent for a few seconds before ordering, "Come here and bandage it."

Elena respectfully walks towards Lucas, who is sitting on the couch, and just past the henchman, suddenly turns around and stabs him to death.

The underling didn't react at all, blood spurted out from his neck, covering his neck and falling to the ground.

Lucas has long been in front of the waiter to keep vigilant, see the other side of the surprise attack has not had time to react, can only watch his own men were killed.

At this time, Elena turned to stab, has been from Lucas hand flying out, the target directly to her heart.

Shocking's eyes are filled with excitement, but just as he's about to touch Elena, he's deflected by a ring thrown from behind, and becomes somber.

Elena turns to confront Lucas, only to have him flee in the opposite direction, aiming for Raven.

As he approaches Raven, Lucas is struck in the thigh by a silver needle fired from behind by Elena, and in the seconds she's frozen, Elena catches up with him and fights him off.

Although Lucas is still able to fight, he is significantly weaker than Elena, who is unharmed, especially with his hands severely injured, especially one of them, and is unable to fight against her.

After a couple of fights, Lucas was knocked to the ground, his limbs were broken, and he was unable to moan because his face was swollen by Elena's blows, and he couldn't get over the heat and could only whimper in his throat.

"Thanks." Elena, seeing that Lucas was no longer able to fight back, walked over to Raven and picked him up while thanking her for saving her life.

Of course, there was no emotion in this thank you, after all, as assassins, other than cold blood, other emotions have long been irrelevant to them.

Helping Raven to sit beside Lucas, Elena picked up the sharp knife on the ground and handed it to Raven.

Raven took the knife with trembling, staring at Lucas with cold eyes, under Lucas's fearful gaze, she raised the knife high, stabbed the other party's heart, while Lucas was still in a trance, and then turned the knife in the heart slowly, until his breath completely disappeared before she stopped.

"Shade's gonna meet you down there, okay?" After stopping the bleeding and bandaging Raven briefly, Elena asked, looking at the other man's frighteningly pale face.

Raven nodded slightly, walked to the window with Elena's support, opened the window, looked around, and after confirming that there was nothing wrong, Elena shot the silver thread in her bracelet to the ground, signaling Raven to go down.

After seeing Shade receive Raven successfully, Elena withdrew the silver thread, closed the window, walked towards Lucas, and cut off his left thumb, leaving his status ring intact.

After getting up, Elena opens the door, turns off the lights, and closes the door again.

Upon seeing her returning companion, several waitresses excitedly run towards Elena, concerned about her well-being.

"Sorry, I'm not feeling well, I'll leave the rest to you." Elena smiles and interrupts the waitresses' concern, stating that she needs to leave.

"Don't worry, we'll take care of the rest, you go back first." The girls were full of confidence, they were sure it would be handled properly.

One of them even showed her reluctance, with tears in her eyes, gently patting Elena, saying that the rest do not have to worry about, she can go home without worrying. The others also thought of the bad side of the story, and all of them showed apologetic expressions.

Elena knew what they were thinking, but she didn't need to explain, she just nodded her head and left silently. Unnoticed by the others, several people of different identities quietly left the villa.

Chapter 3

"In this world, there is no greater happiness than being reunited with one's family; there is no greater warmth than being together as a family; there is nothing more precious than the closeness between a mother and her child. ...... Our family is the most important thing, and it is with them that we are complete, happy and at ease. This is why it is so important to combat the forces of evil. Recently, the Rivertown Police Department solved a major crime, protected people's property, and safeguarded several families' ......"

The sound of the TV cut off momentarily, and a kindly middle-aged man spoke, "Come in."

Elena respectfully walked into the room, stood in front of the man and bowed deeply, then said, "Uncle Henry, the subject has been solved."

With that, she opened the small box, inside was the ring that symbolized the other's identity.

"Well, well done." Uncle Henry took a sip of tea, then asked, "How's Raven doing?"

Elena closed the box and placed it respectfully on the table, "She was injured, she's recuperating now, she'll recover soon."

"That's good, go and rest, prepare to go to Rivertown in a few days," Uncle Henry took the box, his eyes lazily swept her a glance, waving his hand to indicate that she could leave.

When Elena heard Rivertown, her hands, which she hadn't managed to retract in time, paused in the air for a second, then bowed respectfully once more, and took a few steps back to leave the room.

After leaving the room, Elena didn't go to rest, but went straight to the wrestling room. For them, "rest" was actually death, and only those who no longer wanted to live would choose to rest.

An hour later, as the sounds in the chamber subsided, Elena collapsed on the cushions and breathed in the air.

"What's the new arrangement?" A young man said as he handed her a bottle of mineral water.

Elena took the water and sat up, "Send me to Rivertown."

The man frowned slightly, "Rivertown?"

Elena nodded firmly, the man scrutinized her suspiciously, "He never arranged for you to go to Rivertown ......"

Elena looked up and took a sip of her water, trying to avoid the man's gaze and hide the deep misgivings within her.

Rivertown, that was a place she had never set foot in. Ever since she had been with Uncle Henry, she had been allowed to participate in all the missions, but she had not been arranged to go to Rivertown, which had gradually formed an unwritten rule within the organization - Elena was not allowed to have any contact with any information about Rivertown.

So why did Uncle Henry suddenly ask her to go to Rivertown? Will the secret that has haunted her for so long be revealed in this operation?

"Dr. Henry?" Just after returning to her room, Elena received a phone call from Dr. Henry, and a strong and indescribable emotion surged in her heart.

"Take some time in the next couple days to come over for a scar surgery." Dr. Henry said bluntly.

Elena was shocked, for some reason, she suddenly felt a trace of panic: "Okay."

Hanging up the phone, she touched the location of her heart, her heart clearly perceived an unfamiliar yet familiar emotion - panic.

That's right, it was panic, and the source of this panic was unknown, which was the most terrible, and also the most taboo feeling as an assassin.

Suppressing this inexplicable panic, Elena took off her jacket and prepared to wash up, the mirror reflected the hideous scars on her exposed arms, as well as the scars hidden in her back.

These scars were a testament to the many times she had crawled back from the gates of hell, and now to have to erase them was something she was very uncomfortable with, even reluctant to do. But she was in no position to refuse, for it was Uncle Henry's request.

To her and the other men, Uncle Henry was like a god, their lives and deaths were in his hands.

They are a group of orphans, adopted since childhood, in their memories, the first person they saw was Uncle Henry, giving them warmth, let them through a short but happy childhood.

Yes, short, because when they turned six, they were sent to a hidden underground base in the middle of a remote mountain forest.

Here, they are trained in all sorts of ways, they eat and they learn, and they learn all sorts of skills, and they are challenged by the heavens all the time.

A group of children who at first can't stand this, crying and screaming, but soon in the cold environment, the mentality changes, either recognize the reality, or be devoured by the wolves.

Once they all behave, life becomes simple: study, eat, sleep, and then be tested again.

Over time, the intensity of the training escalates, and the children will fight to distinguish between the ranks, with those who do not reach the highest level being punished as well.

As they grow older, they become cold-blooded machines, where emotions are laughable and the only goal is to survive.

"Bang Bang ......"

"Clang ......"

"Thud ......"

A group of men and women were engaged in a fierce confrontation with cold weapons or vegetative hands, throughout the space, from time to time, one after another people fell down, although their bodies were bloody and even their bones were exposed, no one let out a miserable wail, at best, there was a slight groan.

It was a test, a monthly one to be exact, and there was no reward for the winner, but the loser had to win the next match or be thrown into the wolf's den where they hadn't eaten for a couple of days, and the victor would only get a chance to rejoin the competition. And so the cycle continues.

Elena and the nine winners stood in the center of the room, looking coldly at their fallen companions in front of them. In the face of life and death struggles, they had long forgotten their initial fear and human sympathy.

"Snap."

Applause rang out, meaning that the exam was over, "Everyone worked hard, take a good rest for the next few days."

Elena heard the man in front of her finish, only to leave the exam room, which had left her numb and disgusted, without looking back.

Rest? It was just a break from killing each other, but the training couldn't be relaxed, day by day, month by month, year by year.

She has been here for as long as she can remember, sharing her life with the companions she has just fought with, entering and escaping from the wolves' den several times, and witnessing many of her companions perish in the wolves' mouths, and yes, she has seen with her own eyes that the winners have to witness the punishments of the losers. ......

As far as she could remember, she was waiting for the day when she would be old enough to leave this place ......

Another test, the number of people obviously a lot less, "everyone, you are in all the best twenty people, today is a test, the successful person can leave the base, wait for the boss, the failure of people only one way - death."

The twenty young men understood, the day they were waiting for had finally come.

It often happened in the base, those who were about to leave would be put outside the room full of surveillance, while the others who hadn't yet reached their seniority could only watch from the outside.

They watched as one group after another of qualified people left the dark base and entered the outside world, a place that was both familiar and unfamiliar.

"Knock, knock, knock."

A knock on the door interrupted Elena's thoughts.

"Yes?" She asked as she opened the door, looking at the man in front of her, whom she had never crossed paths with before.

The man eyed Elena lightly, "Uncle Henry found out about Raven's injuries, and threw her into the ocean to feed the sharks."

Elena knew in her heart, although she could hide it, they were both Uncle Henry's people, how could they hide it from him. It was only a matter of time before they found out, and if they found out later, they might have survived, though the chances were slim.

The man looked at the expressionless Elena in front of him without a care in the world, "She told me to thank you before she was thrown down, or she wouldn't have survived."

After saying that, the man quickly turned around and left. In their world, death was too commonplace, and it was precious to be able to deliver those words.

Chapter 4

post-operative

"Your scar is too deep, I can only help you to lighten it, not eliminate it completely. You can use some cosmetics to cover it up afterwards." Dr. Henry said as he examined Elena's condition.

Elena nodded her head in disbelief, and asked with her eyes fixed, "Then when can I be discharged from the hospital?"

Dr. Henry stopped his hand movements, gave her a meaningful look, and then continued, "About half a month."

Next was a silence, the surroundings seemed particularly quiet.

......

On the day of her discharge, Uncle Henry himself came to the hospital to pick up Elena, looking at her with fatherly concern, beaming with smiles, and giving her a gentle hug at the end.

This was a surprise to Elena, who had never felt such warmth from Uncle Henry, except for the few times he had hugged her when she was a child.

"You've grown up, you're not that little girl anymore, and you don't cry all the time."

Letting go of Elena, Uncle Henry looked at her seriously, mouthing something like an emotion.

Elena looked at Uncle Henry and moved the corners of her mouth slightly, wanting to say something but not knowing what to say.

Patting Elena's arm, Uncle Henry gazed at her eyes and said, "The mission assigned to you this time is also the last one, you can choose to go or stay on your own, I won't interfere with you, no one dares to stop you."

Hearing the mission, Elena put away her inner doubt: "This life is all given by you, if not for you, I would have long been dead! Uncle Henry, what is the mission, you quickly say."

Patting Elena, Uncle Henry removed his eyes from her face, smiled and looked at her from the top, "Haha, no hurry, let's go home first!"

Elena nodded and stopped talking, followed Uncle Henry and left the hospital.

......

"Have a seat."

Just entering the room, Uncle Henry greets Elena and asks her to sit down, while he goes to the bedroom to get his things.

"Here is your ID card." Uncle Henry came out from the bedroom, and handed Elena an information bag, "Inside is your transfer certificate and a black card."

"Uncle Henry?" Elena stopped the information bag in her hand, covered with belly.

Handing Elena a cup of tea, Uncle Henry smiled and said, "This is your assignment, leave here, you will go to Rivertown as a transfer student."

Speaking here Uncle Henry took a sip of tea, and continued, "After the mission is completed, you can choose to come back, or of course, you can use this new identity to continue your life. I won't freeze the black card, no one will come to trouble you, you can rest assured."

"Uncle Henry, what the hell is this for?"

Elena couldn't figure out why Uncle Henry would give her such a big favor for no reason, after all, she was nurtured by him after spending countless hours, money and effort ......

"I think you will also be puzzled in your mind," Uncle Henry put down the tea cup in his hand, sighed slightly, seemed to have made up his mind, "because I am ashamed of you."

Elena looked at Uncle Henry with doubt, seeing the complexity of emotion in his eyes, which was rare and confused her.

"It all started sixteen years ago,......," Uncle Henry said as he slowly looked into the distance.

"Alas ......" he sighed heavily, "sixteen years ago, I just got a foothold in this circle, do not want to be set up by the police in the trap. At that time with me at the side of my own brother, in order to save me and the police car collision, I still remember, he was knocked into the 'puree'......"

Speaking here, Uncle Henry's eyes reddened, the heavenly hatred burst out from his eyes, his fist clenched tightly, veins exposed.

It was the first time Elena saw the kind-hearted Uncle Henry showing such an expression, the hatred in those eyes shot straight at her, making her think for a moment that the person in trouble was herself.

"I escaped with my life, but I was badly injured. While I was being patched up at the hospital, the police chased me there, and in desperation I took a baby hostage."

Uncle Henry's eyes closed and slowly opened, "That baby was you."

"Even if I'm cold-blooded and heartless, I can't be cruel to a child, but ......" said here, Uncle Henry's eyes and harsh, "those police officers who are full of righteousness and morality, but ignored the death of a baby, and even shot a baby. They shot you."

Elena's heart was shocked, her hand unconsciously placed on her chest, where is the scar that accompanied her growing up, and then realized its origin.

"My hand was also hit by a bullet when I was holding you, now I think, if I hadn't been shot first, if I had shot you directly, even Hua Tuo would not have been able to save you!"

Uncle Henry stretched out his right hand and showed it to Elena, there was a faint white scar on the palm and the back of the hand, which was the mark left by the bullet.

Elena quietly looked at Uncle Henry's hand, her eyes were so low that it was hard to read her emotions.

Uncle Henry sighed slightly, and reached out to touch her head, "Later on, you and I were lucky to escape, you were so young that you could hardly be saved at that time, but it was Dr. Henry who pulled you back from the ghost gate."

"When you recover, I'm going to send you back to your parents. After the investigation, your father was the policeman who shot you."

At this point, Uncle Henry didn't continue, but he let Elena digest the information on her own.

Elena understood Uncle Henry's unspoken words, how could a little girl go back in one piece and not be treated differently?

Steadying her mind, Elena asked Uncle Henry, "Does this mission have anything to do with that man?"

Uncle Henry stares at the Elena in front of him inquisitively, but she is emotionless, leaving him momentarily uncertain.

"Yes, this time I've asked you to go to Rivertown because I want you to investigate his plans, he's destroyed several of my strongholds recently, and it's your job to tell me about his plans."

After saying that, Uncle Henry slowly stood up and sat beside Elena, gently holding her hand, with tears shining in his eyes, "Don't worry, I won't interfere with them during this period, as long as you tell me his plan. There's all the information about them in the packet, you'll find out when you get back."

"Why do you want me to fulfill this mission?" Elena looked at Uncle Henry, her heart a hundred times more complicated.

"Haha, of course there is my selfishness." Uncle Henry patted Elena's hand, and said gently, "You are the one I watched grow up, my concern for you is the most among all the children, naturally my feelings are deeper. I hope you can understand the reasons for this, and then feel their emotions. When you choose to stay or go, I will not stop you, I just hope that your future path is really want to go."

Finished, Uncle Henry and gently patted Elena's hand, tears in his eyes, slightly red circles do not want to let Elena see, then turned his head to blink quickly, the back seems to instantly aged ten years.

Thinking for a moment, Elena raised her head, firmly looked at Uncle Henry: "Uncle Henry, you arranged the task I will complete."

"Good! Good!" Uncle Henry excitedly held Elena's hand, patted it, and surveyed her with eyes full of reluctance, "This goodbye, maybe you won't come back. Don't worry, the identity given to you is clean, others can't find out anything, you can live an ordinary life at ease, come back to see me when you miss Uncle Henry!"

Speaking here Uncle Henry could no longer hold back his tears, shedding tears.

Elena looked at this middle-aged man in front of her, for a moment she didn't know what gesture to use to comfort him, "Uncle Henry......"

"Ok, ok, don't talk about these sad words, you go back to rest, and go to Rivertown tomorrow," Uncle Henry lowered his head and wiped the tears in the corner of his eyes, and sent Elena out the door.

Elena didn't leave immediately at the door, turned around and looked at him reluctantly, "Uncle Henry, take care!"

After saying that, Elena didn't wait for Uncle Henry's reaction, turned around and left.

"Tsk, what a good show!" Seeing Elena leave, a teasing sound came from behind Uncle Henry.
After closing the door, Uncle Henry changed his fatherly image and said, "Hmph, it's just a show."

"Life is like a play, it all depends on the acting skills, I almost believe in big brother's acting skills." He said and handed Uncle Henry a glass of wine.

"If not, how can that girl serve me?" Receiving the glass of wine, Uncle Henry looked at the person in front of him--Dr. Henry.

The two of them looked at each other and smiled, raised their glasses and clinked them, their eyes full of anticipation for the next good show.

On this side, Elena returned to the room, the face of the reluctance has disappeared, reflected in the mirror is a cold and emotionless face, the eyes showed unspeakable emotions.

Chapter 5

"You have one mission this time, tell us the plan, the rest is up to you, but remember, you can't betray the organization." Boarding the plane, Elena played with the pills that Dr. Henry had personally watched her take an hour before her departure, an uncertain smile at the corner of her mouth.

......

"Emily, what do you see here?" A boy with a small black mole on the lower eyelid of the left corner of his eye and a feminine appearance asked mysteriously to the fresh and pretty girl in front of him.

"Huh? What what?" Emily looked at her brother who suddenly popped out from behind her, showing a sweet smile, her round eyes full of anticipation, her milky curly hair moving with the swing of its owner, showing her lively and cute. She couldn't wait to reach out her long, delicate hands for the box in the boy's hand.

"Haha, sis, you're too easy to fool!" There was nothing in the box, Emily raised her mouth, glared at him, and chased after him angrily, while the younger brother made a funny face, dodging her sister's chasing and hitting.

"That's enough!" At this time, a smiling woman came out from the kitchen with food, "How old are you guys, why do you still act like children who haven't grown up every day!" Although the woman's mouth is disgusted, the wrinkles on her face look deep because of her smile, her eyes are full of love for the children.

Woman called Susan, although not well-dressed, but the overall look of maintenance is very good, fair skin, body to maintain a very slim, not like a mother with children, on the contrary, appear more young. Although she is not a beauty, she is the type that is durable, giving people a sense of warmth and peace.

"Aren't we just children who will never grow up for mom?" Emily jumped up and down and ran to Susan's side, hugging her.

"You! As a sister, you still love to be so pampered!" Susan nodded the tip of Emily's nose lovingly, shaking her head to express her helplessness.

"I don't care, I'm mom and dad's child, I have to be pampered to you, for the rest of my life." Emily hugged her mom and rubbed her head against her.

"Good! Yes! Yes! As long as Emily wants, she can pamper her mom and dad forever!" Susan nodded her head and lovingly stroked the child's soft hair.

"Mom's biased, there's still us!" The boy who had just been playing with Emily yelled, and rudely pulled his twin brother, who didn't want to get involved, over to his mom's side for a hug.

"Alexander, Ethan too, Mommy loves them all, all of them!" Susan was genuinely happy to see her sons and daughters.

"Alright, Alexander go get your father to come out for dinner!" Susan hugged her three children, and looked at the boy who was just playing with his sister.

"Okay!" Alexander stood upright like a policeman, with a funny expression on his face, then turned around and ran to call his father for dinner.

The others were amused by Alexander's actions, and it was a heartwarming picture. In the distance, a girl who looks exactly like the daughter of the family is watching all this through binoculars, Elena, who silently reads her lips and exclaims, "What a blessing!"

Elena got off the plane, put her luggage in the house prepared in advance, and then found her biological parents' home. Looking at this scene, Elena didn't know what to feel in her heart, although her mouth made a sighing sound, but her face and eyes couldn't see any emotion, except for herself, no one knew what she was really thinking at this moment.

After observing the scene, Elena put away her binoculars, put on her mask, lowered the brim of her hat and left the rooftop.
