My Alpha Captain

1

I stood in front of the mirror, checking myself once again, confirming that I truly looked stunning. I peeled back my collar, revealing a hint of lace from my lingerie.

“OK, tonight is definitely going to be the night.”

I was excited today because I was finally about to celebrate my coming-of-age party. This meant I was on the cusp of adulthood, both mentally and physically. I was eager to do all the things that adults could do. In fact, I planned to have an intimate moment with my boyfriend Lucas.

Lucas was a member of our school’s football team—tall and handsome. Unlike others who viewed me as a boring nerd, I felt completely comfortable around him. He had a great sense of humor and sometimes acted like a big child, but our relationship was very solid. I loved Lucas, and of course, he loved me too.

However, it’s worth mentioning that even though our feelings were stable, he hadn’t publicly acknowledged that I was his girlfriend. Now, I wanted to take our relationship public; I felt it was time to take a step forward.

After tonight, everything would change. Our bodies intertwined would surely sweeten our emotional bond, and he would love me even more.

I styled the strands of hair that fell on my forehead, exposing my smooth skin; today, I was the star of this party, and I had never felt more radiant.

I enthusiastically headed to the party where Nora and Lila were already waiting for me.

“Oh my goodness, look who’s this little princess?” Lila, ever the enthusiastic one, circled me, showering me with compliments. “Trust me, tonight you are definitely the center of attention.”

“Thank you!” I beamed as I asked them, “Have you seen Lucas?”

Lila winked at me and gestured in a direction, “Your prince is over there.”

I lifted my skirt and dashed through the crowd towards him. “Darling!”

With the loud music surrounding us, no one should have heard me call out to Lucas, but he still instinctively glanced around, furrowing his brow.

I didn’t quite understand why he was worried, but my heart was filled with the joy of spending a wonderful evening with him, so I soon dismissed my doubts.

“Lucas, I need to talk to you.” I moved closer, hoping he’d notice the alluring glimpse of my neckline.

Lucas set his drink down, but didn’t lean in. He wore a distant expression that made me a bit sad, and I asked, “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.” He didn’t even look at me when he said that.

I didn’t know why he was suddenly so cold, and I wanted to ask what was going on. But the party atmosphere was bustling, with people occasionally stopping to wish me congratulations on becoming an adult. By the time I refocused, Lucas was gone.

For a moment, I felt a heaviness in my chest, and no amount of drinks alleviated it.

“This won't do,” I said to myself. “Drinking alone certainly won’t solve anything.”

I still had my plan for tonight; I needed to be completely with Lucas at this coming-of-age party. By tomorrow, we would become the envy of everyone at school. I couldn’t let my plans fall apart!

Thinking this, I decided to look for him in his room. Before knocking, I heard an unusual sound. Even with the music and crowd noise behind me, I recognized the sounds of a woman moaning. And a man’s heavy breathing—someone was having sex in that room!

“What the fuck?!” Without hesitation, I pushed the door open and stormed inside.

To my disbelief, there on the bed were my boyfriend Lucas and the cheerleading captain, Susan! At that moment, I wished I had a long sword in my hand. I would definitely throw it straight and pierce the throats of those two scoundrels!

“Lucas!” My scream clearly overpowered the loud music.

Lucas didn’t expect my sudden appearance; he hastily separated from Susan, wrapping himself in a sheet. “Emma, let me explain.”

“Explain what? That you two aren't having sex, but are engaged in some ancient ritual of nudity?”

Lucas was left speechless. Meanwhile, Susan provocatively ignored me and invited Lucas, “Lucas, that was amazing, we should do it again.”

“Slut! Despicable bitch!”

Fury surged within me, and I wanted to rush to the bed and claw Susan's face off. Lucas stood up and grabbed me, saying, “Emma, don't do this.”

I couldn’t break free from his embrace and yelled at him, “I just want to kill you, you shameless jerk!”

Lucas’s patience seemed to wear thin; his expression shifted from guilt to anger. “Enough, Emma. This is embarrassing.”

“Are you talking about me?” I was incredulous. “Aren’t you the one who cheated first? You were the one who jumped into bed with this slut!”

Lucas released me, and his expression was unfamiliar to me: “Yes. But no one wants to sleep with a nerd, Emma.”

“Fuck!” Looking at his unrepentant face, I slapped him. “Son of a bitch!”

I could no longer stay there and bolted out, heading straight for a bar. Alone at the bar, I lost track of how many drinks I’d had, feeling dizzy.

“Hey, I’m sorry to interrupt, but your phone has been vibrating for a while.” I looked up to see a tall, handsome young man approaching, with beautiful curly hair.

Upon his reminder, I checked my phone and found messages from my best friends Nora and Lila, asking where I had gone.

“Come back quickly! You should have beaten up that bitch Susan!”—I knew this message was from Lila just from the tone.

Thinking of Susan, all I could picture was Lucas and Susan lying naked on the bed together. I didn’t respond to my friends as I just wanted to escape. I wished the nauseating images in my mind could be replaced by something else.

Looking at the attractive guy in front of me, I thought, he’d be a good distraction, wouldn’t he? I reached out, pushed some of his curls away from his face, and flirted, “Such a beautiful face, what a waste to cover it.”

If Lucas could cheat with Susan, then surely I could have a fling with this guy. But when I got a good look at his face, my hand froze. I recognized him as Alaric, the captain of the school’s football team.

Alaric smiled and took my hand, kissing it lightly. “I’m not just a pretty face.”

He clearly wouldn’t mind a one-night stand, but I knew he was famous for being a playboy, and getting involved with him was like stepping into trouble. So, I quickly halted the inappropriate flirtation, “Sorry, I’ve had too much to drink to act like this.”

I didn’t want to become the enemy of every girl at school, so I rejected him and left the bar. With nowhere else to go, I returned to the party house.

“Look who’s back!” Susan blocked me at the door, and everyone turned to look at us.

She boasted, “Back to find Lucas? Too bad he’s in the room sleeping, after exhausting himself. His performance in bed was phenomenal, and you’ve never experienced that, poor thing.”

Her next words were venomous: “After all, no man will ever love a nerd like you, you fool.”

I trembled with rage, “You husband-stealing slut.”

Susan, furious, raised her hand to slap me, but someone grabbed her wrist.

2

I looked up at the person who was holding her. To my surprise, it was Alaric, who had just been flirting with me at the bar. Susan clearly didn't expect Alaric to show up either, her face displaying disbelief. After a few seconds, her expression turned awkward again.

But she still held her head high and said to Alaric, "This is none of your business!"

Alaric released Susan's hand. "Of course, it's my business. If you ended up with a trashy guy, it would make me look bad as your ex-boyfriend."

So, he was Susan's ex. I was astonished. Alaric didn't seem intent on stopping there; he continued mocking Susan, "Ever since you left me, you've really let yourself go. Now you're even involved with someone like Lucas."

Susan's face flushed red, as she knew no one could compare to Alaric. At that moment, she could only stubbornly retort, "Are you jealous, Alaric? You should know I'm charming enough to attract more than just you."

"Don't kid yourself, Susan. If Lucas is garbage, then what does that make you?" Alaric's sharp words clearly outdid her. Susan couldn't gain any favor in front of him.

To be honest, Alaric's cruel teasing toward Susan was far from gentlemanly, but he had indeed stood up for me. I should be grateful to him.

More and more people gathered around, and Susan's expression grew darker; she certainly didn't want to embarrass herself in front of so many. "Just you wait," she said, glaring at me. Then, she stormed off from the party. After Susan's humiliating exit, Alaric kindly dispersed the crowd. He planned to leave too.

But I, feeling the effects of the alcohol, grabbed Alaric's hand, "Wait."

"What do you want to say?" he asked me.

I could sense a bit of confusion, not sure if it was from the alcohol or because the man before me was just that captivating. Anyway, my hand mischievously rested on his shirt buttons, "I think I should thank you properly."

"Thank me?"

"Yes, thank you for standing up for me in front of Susan."

Alaric's smile was charming as he asked, "And what would you like to offer as a reward?"

I took this as his invitation. He was enticing me to say something more explicit. Coincidentally, I did intend to take things further with him. So, I leaned in, whispering softly in his ear, "My body."

I thought he would agree; after all, he had shown interest earlier at the bar. His gaze swept over me, and then he softly said in my ear, "I don't want that."

"What?" My typically charming smile froze on my face.

Alaric, grinning mischievously, looked incredibly appealing at that moment. "I just happened to pass by; I'm not lacking in women." He was right; as the campus's most sought-after playboy, how could he possibly have a shortage of women? Especially not someone like me, who was so inconspicuous.

Alaric took my hand down, saying, "Since you rejected me earlier, I’m now rejecting you—fair’s fair."

What a petty man!

It was hard to imagine how dreadful my expression looked then. I wanted to turn and leave. But I didn't want to walk away just like that. The image of Susan's reaction spurred my competitive spirit. I needed a man to validate my charm. And Alaric, as Susan's ex-boyfriend, was the perfect target!

Even though the atmosphere had grown awkward, I decided to retaliate against that pair of scoundrels. I let my hair down, lifted my skirt slightly to reveal my black stockings. Sure enough, Alaric’s expression changed. He clearly hadn’t expected me to do that. I pressed on, unbuttoning my top to display the sexy lingerie underneath. In an instant, Alaric's gaze shifted.

Without needing further words, I knew Alaric had become captivated by me. He stepped forward and kissed me. After a passionate kiss, Alaric said, "It seems we should find a better place."

I nodded. Then we left the party and went back to Alaric's dorm. Once the door was closed, he eagerly kissed me. My clothes quickly became disheveled, and with a gentle tug, they were off.

Now, I was wearing a complete set of sexy lingerie—fiery and enticing. Alaric couldn't help but place his hand on my chest. "You’re truly beautiful," he said, caressing my body as if it were a magnificent treasure. His hand traveled down from my soft breasts, lingering on my full backside.

It was the first time I had been touched like this. Before he attempted to slide his hand between my legs, I felt it necessary to convey a crucial fact. "I'm still a virgin."

Alaric froze for a moment, clearly taken aback. His hand halted. In that second, I was even prepared for him to change his mind. I could almost hear Susan's words echo in my ear—"No one wants to sleep with a boring nerd."

Just when I thought he would give up on me, he pulled me into his embrace.

"Alaric..."

"Shh." He silenced me.

Alaric's fingers slipped along the edge of my panties, skillfully teasing my clitoris. Kiss after kiss fell on my cheeks and nose. "I’ll be gentle; trust me, okay?"

I nodded, surrendering my body completely to Alaric. His technique was excellent; just playing with my clitoris sent me over the edge several times. We embraced and rolled from the door to the bed. I wrapped my legs around Alaric's waist, my body already incredibly aroused.

"If you’re not ready, just tell me."

I looked at him and said, "I want you inside me now."

This was the first time my body would experience a man. I had never imagined a man's member could be so massive. Pain shot through me from below, and I couldn’t help but cry out.

"Does it hurt?" Alaric slowed his movements.

I shook my head, hoping he would enter me quickly. I had to admit, Alaric's wealth of experience brought obvious advantages. The pain quickly transformed into pleasure. I became lost in our intense lovemaking. That night, I lost my virginity, but the experience was fantastic. In our dizzying passion, we held each other tightly, his heavy breathing filling my ears.

It was astounding; his eyes turned red when he was aroused. It made him look dangerous. I don’t know how long it was before I fell into a deep sleep.

When I woke up, it was daytime.

"Ah, it hurts." The hangover made my head pound. I blinked, confused, surveying the room before slowly realizing this wasn’t my dorm but Alaric's. I had spent the night with Alaric here.

Now, I was alone in the dorm. Alaric was nowhere to be found. It seemed the rumors were true; Alaric never slept with the same girl twice. For him, this was just another ordinary one-night stand. What a heartless man!

At that moment, my phone rang; it was Lila calling.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

On the other end, Lila raised her voice, "Something big has happened! Don't you know yet?"

3

Emma's Perspective

Lila didn’t clarify what happened over the phone; she just kept urging me to return to the dormitory quickly. I hurried back, and as I pushed the door open, I saw Nora and Lila sitting on the couch, watching me.

Nora sat on the left side of the couch, her short hair neatly styled, with a piercing on her right eyebrow. She always exuded a cool vibe and had a penchant for motorcycles and tattoos. Lila, on the other hand, was completely different; she loved lounging on the couch, looking charmingly lazy like a little cat. She had a fiery figure and was quite the heartthrob, often indulging in the nightlife and frequently dating different men. We three had vastly different personalities but were the best of friends.

Now, however, the two of them were sitting neatly on the couch, which was a completely different state than usual. This was unusual. Even more unusual was that they had left a space for me between them. Their actions made me quite nervous.

“Thank god you’re finally back,” Nora said as she pulled me over to sit in the middle of the couch, both women snugly pressed against me.

Lila seriously handed me her phone. The screen displayed a photo of a man and a woman—Lucas and Susan.

“That damn bitch! She actually said she’s in a relationship with Lucas!” Lila's scream pierced my ears.

Nora was equally agitated. “Lucas actually cheated! He deserves the most vicious curse in the world. He’s definitely not going to have a good ending.” Both sides erupted with angry shouts.

I thought I would feel heartbroken, but in reality, when I saw Susan's tweet, I felt remarkably calm, as if this matter had nothing to do with me.

“Emma? Listen to me, don’t doubt yourself, and don’t blame it on yourself; it’s all the fault of those two bitches,” Lila and Nora seemed genuinely worried by my lack of reaction. They feared I would feel dejected or even depressed because of it.

I shrugged and told them, “Don’t worry, I really don’t care.”

The two of them looked at me in disbelief, and Lila lowered her voice to ask Nora, “Is Emma in denial?”

I turned to Lila and explained once again, “I’m not; I truly don’t care.”

“Then what’s that?” Lila squinted, pointing to the hickey that had been exposed due to my gesturing. “Who were you with yesterday?”

I instinctively reached to cover the mark, recalling the intensity of last night, and blushed. I didn’t intend to hide it, so I answered honestly, “It was Alaric, the captain of the school’s football team.”

Lila’s expression instantly changed to one of sadness. Damn it, I had forgotten that Lila had a crush on Alaric!

I reached for her arm, stammering, “Sorry, Lila, I shouldn’t… My brain cells must have drowned in last night’s alcohol… I’m sorry, forgive me…”

But Lila quickly brushed off her sadness. “You don’t need to apologize. We all know what kind of guy Alaric is. If it weren’t for his perfect physique, I wouldn’t even glance his way.”

She turned to comfort me. “But he’s definitely far better than that idiot Lucas. But Emma, no matter what kind of man, they aren’t completely reliable. Exams are coming up soon; you should focus on your studies, not getting tangled up with men.”

“Yes, Emma, men are not as important as exams,” Nora chimed in.

They were right; it was better to dedicate my time to studying for the crucial upcoming exams than to waste it on men. This exam was crucial. After it, there would be course adjustments, and students could choose a clearer research direction. My major was Zoology, and I had always wanted to delve into comparative anatomy. So this exam would determine whether I could select my desired advisor.

I didn’t have enough time to waste on trivial matters. Lucas had already betrayed me, and Alaric was just a popular playboy. Neither of them was worth my time and energy.

After Nora and Lila consoled me, I returned to my bed and caught up on some sleep. We went to the cafeteria together for lunch. As soon as we entered, Lila nudged my waist with her arm and whispered, “Look, Alaric.” Both Nora and Lila’s eyes were filled with curiosity, wanting to see how Alaric would treat me.

In fact, I was curious too. After last night, my attitude toward him had changed, and I often thought of him. I wanted to know how he would react now.

Disappointingly, his demeanor was quite cold, seeming as if nothing had happened between us last night. As Alaric prepared to pass us by, Lila quickly greeted him, “Hi! No game today?”

“No.” Alaric stopped, “There is a game tomorrow if you want to watch; I hope you can all come.” With that, Alaric walked away.

Lila looked excited beside me. “Let’s go watch the game tomorrow!” I wanted to go, but the thought of Lucas being there dampened my enthusiasm.

I shook my head. “I think I’ll just study in the library.” But Nora urged me to consider going to the game. She winked, “Go check it out, Emma; something good might happen.”

“Well, okay then.”

Alaric's Perspective

When I returned to the dorm after breakfast, Emma was already gone. The once untidy sheets had been neatly folded, leaving no trace of last night behind.

I set my breakfast on the desk and lifted the blanket, trying to find evidence of her presence. Nothing—she hadn’t left anything behind, not even a hint of her scent.

It was disappointing; she clearly didn’t care for me at all. Sitting on the bed, remembering how she had moaned under me last night made heat rush through my body. She seemed to possess a peculiar charm—after all, who would expect a nerd to wear a tight mini skirt and sexy lingerie underneath her clothes?

As I was lost in thought, my roommate Ethan returned. He was a hooker on the football team and a good friend of mine.

As soon as he saw me, he wrapped his arm around my neck and teasingly asked which beautiful woman I had spent the night with.

I didn’t want to reveal Emma’s name, so I replied, “A bar girl.”

“She must be pretty, right?” Ethan bumped me with his shoulder. “After all, you’ve always favored beautiful and passionate girls.”

Pretty and passionate? Indeed, who said a nerd couldn’t be both?

But this “bar girl” vanished like Cinderella after a night of passion. It made my confidence wane a bit. I needed to change the subject.

But at that moment, Ethan asked, “Do you know about Lucas?”

“What about him?” The name sounded familiar.

“It’s rare for you to be interested in someone else’s business,” Ethan laughed as he pulled out his phone to show me. “This guy might suck at football, but he’s quite lucky in love.”

He showed me Lucas’s Twitter, featuring a photo of him and Susan. Lucas had just announced their relationship.

“What a pity! You know how hot Susan is. It's unbelievable she would choose to be with Lucas, damn!”

Looking at Lucas's face, I suddenly remembered. Emma was Lucas's ex-girlfriend. Now Lucas had cheated on her with Susan.

Oh man, Lucas was such a fool to abandon Emma for Susan. Didn’t he know Emma was way hotter?

At noon, Ethan and I decided to grab lunch together. Coincidentally, I spotted Emma there, and she had slipped back into that nerdy demeanor. It excited me a bit. Now I had a secret that only I knew— the real Emma was no nerd.

To maintain our secret, I pretended to be indifferent. But I invited them to come watch the football game tomorrow. I couldn’t wait to see her on the field.

4

"Nora! Hurry up, the match is about to start!" Lila was clearly the most enthusiastic of us, pulling me along as she urged Nora to move faster.

The three of us nearly jogged to the field. As expected of the top team, there were many spectators gathered to watch the game.

Lila leveraged her looks to guide me and Nora through the crowd to a prime spot right at the front.

Standing by the field, I spotted Alaric at first glance. He looked vibrant and full of energy. I had to admit that even with so many handsome boys around, Alaric was the most dazzling of them all. He was truly handsome, enough to drive every girl in the stands wild.

Of course, I also saw the annoying Lucas. I must be out of my mind to keep looking at him involuntarily. He was sharing flirtatious glances with the cheer captain, Susan. Damn it.

I had never thought that one day Lucas would betray me. I thought I knew him well enough. Lucas and I had known each other for a long time. We were classmates in high school, and honestly, I never imagined Lucas would become my boyfriend because I was such a nerd back then. But Lucas took the initiative to get closer to me, and through our long interactions, I grew to like him. By the time we both got into this university, we decided to be together.

We were not in the same major; I was majoring in zoology while he was in medicine. But that didn’t prevent us from studying together often. After starting college, Lucas joined the university's rugby team. Although he was just a winger, I was still very proud of him. I would cheer for him at every game, my eyes focused solely on Lucas.

In the last game, Lucas didn’t perform well and embarrassed himself on the field. He was down for a long time afterward. As his girlfriend, I didn’t want to see him stay upset all the time. I planned to cheer him up at his birthday party and had prepared for our first intimate moment, only to find him cheating on me with Susan right in front of my eyes! At that moment, he was no different from a piece of trash in my heart.

If I had to blame myself, it would be for not seeing Lucas's ugly side sooner. But now, as I looked at Susan shining so brightly and compared myself with my unremarkable appearance, I felt a twinge of jealousy. As the cheer captain, Susan was so radiant, completely different from me.

As I kept glancing at Susan and Lucas, I felt as if someone was watching me. I could be mistaken, but I thought it might be Alaric. His gaze was intensely burning, and I couldn’t escape it. It also reminded me of the fleeting red eyes from that evening. I turned my head to look back at the piercing gaze. I locked eyes with Alaric through the crowd. His eyes were clearly green now. Could it be that I had seen it wrong before?

The match began! In an instant, everyone was buzzing with excitement, the cheers echoing in waves as the atmosphere intensified. Both teams were evenly matched, neither willing to back down, chasing each other in a fierce competition.

As the match progressed, the competition intensified further, and shouts erupted from the audience. At that moment, the ball found its way to Lucas, who was seeking a breakthrough. Just when it was critical, Lucas fell to the ground while holding the ball. The next second, the entire field erupted into laughter—Lucas's pants had split, revealing his underwear! Goodness, everyone in the arena could see the pattern on those boxers!

I couldn’t help but laugh so hard I could barely stand up, surrounded by the jeers that made my heart soar, their mockery of Lucas was incredibly satisfying. I didn’t know who had orchestrated this, but it definitely brought me a sense of relief. However, this embarrassing moment didn’t last long, as the game continued, and thanks to Alaric and the other players' outstanding performance, they still won the match.

After the match, as the spectators gradually left the field, Lila was still at the sidelines giving Lucas the middle finger.

"Let’s go," Nora urged Lila and me to leave.

"Why the rush?" Lila clearly wasn’t done having fun, even pulling me over so we could mock Lucas together. Sure enough, our delay led Lucas to run over and block my path.

"Was it you who did this?" Lucas’s eyes were red with anger as he loudly questioned me.

I found it baffling. He embarrassed himself—why was it my fault? "What does it have to do with me?"

Lucas didn’t listen to me, "Stop pretending, someone saw you and your friends Nora and Lila sneaking into the locker room. It must have been you who put them up to it!"

I turned to look at Lila and Nora, wanting to ask them if that was true, but Lucas grabbed my wrist. His grip was strong, causing me pain. "Oh! You’re hurting me!"

A cold voice interrupted, "Let go of her, Lucas. That’s not how a gentleman behaves."

It was Alaric. After his recent misstep on the field, Lucas obviously didn’t want to face Alaric. He released my hand, ready to leave. However, Alaric wasn’t going to let him off that easily, "That misplay was yours. You were too busy flirting to train properly, which is why you embarrassed yourself." Lucas's face turned beet red as he could only apologize.

Alaric let Lucas go once he saw he wasn’t planning to continue bothering me.

"Thank you," I whispered my thanks to Alaric.

To my surprise, I didn’t see any relief on Alaric's face. His brow was still furrowed; it had been directed at Lucas, but now it was at me. He told me, "Engaging in underhanded tactics privately isn’t a good thing." With that, Alaric walked away, leaving me no chance to ask him why he said that. But I knew he was referring to Lucas’s public humiliation.

After Alaric left, Lila burst into laughter, "That idiot Lucas should let everyone see his backside, haha!" She turned to me and asked, "Did you see it just now? Susan and Lucas got into a fight. That bitch Susan wouldn’t stand for others laughing at her. And now everyone knows her new boyfriend is the idiot who flashed his backside on the field!"

I knew Lila was so harsh on Susan and Lucas because of me, but I still asked them seriously if they really did something to Lucas’s pants.

Nora’s expression turned serious too, "We did it. Today Lila and I sneaked into the locker room and snipped Lucas’s pants."

5

Emma's Perspective

"You shouldn't have done this." I was extremely angry. Even though Lucas cheated first, it was wrong to use such despicable means to humiliate him in front of the whole school. Furthermore, today was an important match, and if Lucas's blunder affected the team, it would also bring us trouble.

"This is a match, not some insignificant event. You all should have thought this through before doing it."

Seeing my serious demeanor, Nora realized they had gone too far. "I'm sorry, we didn't think it through."

Lila then asked me, "Are you serious? Is this really a good time to act like this? And what about your adult party—was that a good occasion? What are you thinking? Lucas betrayed you, aren’t you mad enough to want revenge?"

"I am serious, Lila. Even if I wanted to get back at Lucas, it shouldn't be done this way."

Hearing my words, Lila rolled her eyes dramatically. "So what? How do you plan to take revenge on that idiot who cheated on you?"

I replied, "There will always be a way."

"Come on!" Lila exclaimed, "You're just too cowardly to fight back. Besides, don't you think that if it weren't for this mess, you'd never have a chance to talk to Alaric? So you never even thought of getting back at Lucas!"

Angrily, I retorted, "Who are you calling coward? Why are you bringing up Alaric now? Are you jealous?"

Lila's expression soured. "Jealous? For what?"

"Of course, jealous of Alaric getting laid." I blurted out.

Lila didn't respond, and we fell silent for a moment.

"I'm wasting my time," Lila said with a self-deprecating smile before turning to leave. No matter how Nora called out to her, Lila didn't look back.

"Let's go." I didn't want to deal with Lila anymore.

Nora and I returned to the dorm and didn’t see Lila again until nightfall. Nora kept messaging Lila but received no reply.

Since we won the match, there was going to be a celebration party that night.

With Lila absent, I entrusted Nora with doing my makeup.

"Emma, can you please not be mad at Lila anymore? She just wants you to be happy. She wants the people who bully you to feel bad," Nora said while applying my makeup, offering an apology for Lila.

I knew that Lila didn’t mean any harm. But Nora kept defending her for a more important reason—she liked Lila.

Yes, Nora is a lesbian.

That fool Lila thought she could toy with all kinds of men, yet remained completely oblivious to Nora's feelings.

I didn't know how to comfort Nora. "I'm sorry. But this is between Lila and me. You can't replace Lila in resolving our issues."

"That's fine," Nora said, "I just hope the three of us can still be the best of friends."

I smiled at her.

Both Lila and I had exchanged very hurtful words today. I certainly wanted to make amends, but it required Lila to feel the same way.

When the makeup was finished, I looked in the mirror and was startled: Nora had given me a bold and flamboyant look.

The arched brows and elongated eyeliner were so foreign to me, not to mention the smoky eyes that clashed with the long dress I was wearing.

"Nora..."

"What is it?"

"No, it's nothing." I was speechless, initially wanting Nora to wipe some off. But there was no time left; I had to leave as I was.

My completely different look caught everyone's attention the moment I arrived at the venue.

I even heard someone asking, "Who is she?"

Seeing that I was still standing there, Nora called out my name loudly, "Emma, come over here."

"Emma?" Someone recognized me. They whispered amongst themselves and were astonished upon realizing I was the nerdy Emma.

The gasps from the crowd drew even more attention, and even Lila from a distance glanced our way. However, upon realizing that the one drawing attention was me, Lila turned away, unwilling to acknowledge us.

In situations like this, Lila was always at ease. Even without being near us, she could flirt with men.

Seeing this, Nora looked a bit sad.

"Emma, are you okay here on your own? I want to step outside for some fresh air."

I nodded, assuring Nora not to worry about me.

After Nora left, I found a quiet spot, not used to the intense gazes from everyone, wanting to escape for a moment.

Unfortunately, life often doesn't go as planned.

Susan suddenly appeared in front of me, provocative. "You vile little clown, you coward! It was you who did this!"

I didn't want to engage with her, but she kept going loudly, accusing me of cutting Lucas's pants. "Admit it, you're just jealous of me being with Lucas, and that's why you did it. You hypocritical nerd!"

I wanted to scream back at her. But I didn't want to be filmed and become a laughing stock. I'd already embarrassed myself enough, so why create extra trouble?

Suppressing my anger, I decided to ignore Susan and leave.

I turned to walk away, but Susan stepped on my skirt with her stiletto heel. The tension on either side ripped the skirt.

Susan smiled maliciously, "This is called retribution. Now it's your turn to feel embarrassed in front of everyone!"

Susan looked like a victorious rooster, almost ready to crow.

That despicable person.

I yanked hard at the skirt, tearing the lower part away. The long dress transformed into a short skirt, exposing my long legs.

The once graceful long skirt turned into a sizzling short skirt that perfectly matched my bold makeup.

I now resembled a sexy yet cute little wildcat, more charming than Susan. The men gathering around me to chat confirmed this.

"Hi, Emma, you look absolutely stunning tonight. If it’s not too forward, would you like to grab a drink together?"

This scene drove Susan into a frenzy; she couldn't stand the fact that I was receiving more attention than her.

"What are you doing?" she shouted at the man trying to flirt with me. "She's that infamous nerd; you won't find any fun with her."

"Oh really?" At that moment, Alaric emerged from the crowd, naturally taking my hand and kissing it. "This lovely lady, may I have the honor of inviting you?"

He was like a savior. I provocatively lifted my chin towards Susan and told Alaric, "Of course."

After leaving the crowd, I wanted to thank Alaric for helping me escape. As soon as I opened my mouth, he interrupted, "I have something to say to you."

I thought Alaric wanted to talk about Lucas, so I quickly explained, "I wasn't aware of what happened today. But my friends didn’t mean to interfere with the match; they just wanted to help me. I'm really sorry."

Alaric shook his head. "I don’t care about Lucas; I just want to know why you left without saying a word. I went out to get you breakfast, and when I came back, you were gone."

I was surprised and took a while to regain my voice, "I thought we were just a one-night stand."

"That was the case, but now..."

Alaric's gaze became mysterious. He lowered his head and whispered in my ear, "I want to do it again with you."
