Chapter 2

**Chapter: The Betrayal**

Isabelle Hawthorne was in surprisingly good spirits today. It was a special day—the anniversary of her marriage to Lord Cecil Bright. To surprise him, she had told him she was working late at the office, but in reality, she had sneaked off to pick up a beautiful cake from the bakery.

When Isabelle returned home, a nagging sense of confusion washed over her. Lord Cecil should have been home from his evening class by now, but the living room was oddly quiet—there was no sign of him. Uneasy, she thought perhaps he was resting in their bedroom and made her way toward the chamber.

As she approached the door, the unmistakable sounds of laughter and moaning drifted out. Isabelle froze, chilled to the bone. The laughter belonged to Yvette Fern, her best friend—the one she thought of as family. Panic gripped her. She could hardly believe what was happening; the man she married was betraying her with her closest confidante.

“Ah... Edmund, slower! It's too much. I can’t take it!” Yvette’s voice carried clearly through the door, and that was all it took to bring Isabelle crashing down into despair.

“Come on, Yvette. It’s just been a few days since I last saw you. Don’t you want to feel good?” Lord Cecil’s teasing tone pierced through her heart like a knife.

“Seriously, you’re such a greedy fool! What about Bella? You've been home every night—didn’t she please you well enough?” Yvette teased back, her voice dripping with mockery.

“She’s as stiff as a board in bed—no spark, no thrill. It’s like making love to a dead fish!”

Isabelle felt her world spiral further into darkness as he continued. How could he? The betrayal wasn’t just on Cecil’s part; it struck deep into her friendship with Yvette. Both had deceived her for the sake of her family's wealth.

Depressed and heartbroken, she stumbled out of her house, wandering aimlessly down High Street with tears streaming down her face. It all felt like one cruel game—a carefully executed conspiracy she hadn’t even seen coming.

Lost in her sorrow, she stepped off the curb into the street without looking. A car raced toward her, its headlights cutting through the night like a knife through butter…

Everything went dark.

“Do you wish to start over?” A disembodied voice rang in her ears, echoing in the void.

“Yes!” she gasped, desperate for a way out of her pain.

“Binding to Host Mercer, number 419, at your service!”

“Wait, who are you?”

“I can be called Jasper the Cynic! Your task as Host Mercer is to journey through multiple worlds, seducing those men to earn their affection—liquid love!” The voice seemed to chuckle ominously. “All this, to ensure your rebirth. So, Host Mercer, get to work!”

“What?!” The world faded again as Isabelle slipped back into the darkness, her mind racing with what-ifs and impossibilities.

Chapter 3

When Bella woke up, the faint light filtering through the window brought a flicker of joy, but it quickly dissolved as a headache surged with an overwhelming tide of information flooding her mind.

It took Bella quite a while to grasp what was happening. She had crossed over into a medieval world, one that closely resembled the plots of the novels by Anne Mercer. The story revolved around a disillusioned young woman from the 21st century who found herself inhabiting the body of a farmer’s wife, Belle Faulkner. Armed with contemporary knowledge, she was determined to help her husband, Tobias Strongwood, rise from humble beginnings to great wealth.

Tobias was not just any farmer; he was marked by an extraordinary physique that set him apart in this world, where beauty standards encompassed a different ideal. Because of this, Belle held a disdainful attitude towards him. She found solace in the arms of Richard, the heir to a noble family, indulging in a fleeting romance that eventually led her to abandon Tobias altogether, becoming Richard’s mistress. Unbeknownst to Belle, Richard was merely playing with her emotions; once he found a new love, he discarded her like an old cloak. Belle faced a tragic end, falsely accused of infidelity with Arthur and left to die in a graveyard, her body carelessly tossed among the graves.

However, the current Bella had a profound appreciation for Tobias Strongwood. She resolved to change the course of fate by marrying him instead and together build a flourishing future.

In Isabelle Hawthorne’s eyes, Belle Faulkner’s fate was self-made.

Fortunately, it was still early in her new life, and though she had exchanged a few sharp words with Tobias, there was still time to sort things out.

“Remember to collect your target’s love essence!” The Overseer chimed in suddenly. “This practice world is an easy one for you. If you don’t succeed, I’ll confine you to the Dark Chamber for a century!”

“Does that mean I have to... sleep with him?” Bella’s voice was a mix of incredulity and dread.

**“Precisely! I’ve prepared a beautifully illustrated guide titled ‘Twelve Chambers of Spring’ for you. Don’t mention it!”**

“...Thanks a lot, I guess?” Bella muttered sarcastically.

A prick of embarrassment shot through Bella, recalling Lord Cecil Bright's earlier remark about her ungraceful disposition in bed. She had also heard Yvette Fern’s passionate cries, which left her feeling inadequate by comparison. She’d always been the good girl, blushing vividly at the mere thought of intimacy. Bella understood that her naivety would not win over a man like Tobias.

But now she had a chance to redeem herself, and with determination, Bella flipped open ‘Twelve Chambers of Spring.’

To her surprise, she discovered there were so many positions and techniques she had never imagined! With her cheeks flushed and unforeseen reactions stirring within her, she felt utterly unprepared.

At that moment, a hearty voice sounded outside her door.

“Wife Hattie, I’ve brought warm water for you. Why don’t you wash your feet? It’ll help you sleep better!”

Bella froze. No, she thought nervously, not now! What if Tobias caught her poring over... this book? How could she possibly explain herself?

Panic swelled. In her haste, she tried to shove the guide out of sight but stumbled over her skirt, sending her tumbling toward the bed!

All she could think was to close her eyes tightly and let out a startled, “Ah!”

Chapter 4

**Chapter Unnamed: Enchanting the Ancient Farmer (02)**

A sudden noise from inside the farmhouse caught Tobias Strongwood's attention as he rushed in, filled with concern for his new bride, Hattie. Upon entering, he found Hattie’s close friend, Belle Faulkner, sprawled across the floor, having accidentally bumped into Grace, the lord of the estate. Fortunately, there wasn’t much harm done, as the incident was initiated by Arthur, a member of the High Council.

Tobias hurried to help Belle to her feet before straightening up the disheveled bed, hastily apologizing to her.

“Sorry, Hattie! I knocked over the water basin…” Tobias’s voice trailed off as he recalled his frantic entrance. His worry for Belle, who had hit the ground hard, had caused him to lose his grip.

Belle took this moment to scrutinize the fabled farmer, Tobias. To her surprise, he wasn’t as bad-looking as she had imagined. His bronze skin glistened with youth, and his masculine features conveyed strength and vitality. He stood towering, likely close to six feet, his hard muscles, a testament to years spent working the land. In fact, his arms were so robust they appeared thicker than her legs—a sight that could easily outshine most modern-day “muscle men.”

Yet, as she watched him apologize, Belle couldn’t help but think it was amusing that such a seemingly powerful figure appeared timid before her. He looked nothing like the domineering farmer she’d read about in historical tales, marked by an overwhelming sense of possessiveness.

Unknown to Belle, this gentle demeanor would soon be replaced by the more assertive traits she feared, as Tobias was still in the early stages of adjusting to his new life with her.

Being well aware of the culture she’d entered, Belle decided to temper her expectations. “Just go fetch another basin of water and stop fretting so much!” She put on a stern face, though she felt a pang of sympathy for him.

What surprised Tobias most was Hattie’s calm reaction. Instead of reprimanding his blunder, she instructed him to fill the basin again. A wave of relief washed over him—this hard-won bride seemed ready to accept him as her husband. With renewed determination, he rushed off to fill the basin once more.

Belle, however, remained baffled why Tobias’s previous fiancée had turned her back on him. He was the quintessential farmer, strong and honorable. Now that she was here, there was no way she would let anyone take Tobias from her grasp!

Once back, he tested the temperature of the water and then cupped Belle’s delicate feet in his strong hands, gently dipping them into the warmth.

As his fingers glided across her skin, Belle couldn't help but blush, feeling heat rush to her cheeks. It was an embarrassment that was wholly new to her—she'd never had someone touch her feet in such an intimate way before. This unfamiliar body she occupied responded sensitively to his touch; her feet were particularly ticklish, igniting an urge within her that was difficult to tame. She felt herself beginning to tremble as the combination of his rough hands and her sensitive skin sent waves of warmth radiating through her.

Belle pressed her lips tightly together, desperately hoping not to let out any involuntary sounds that would betray how flustered she truly was.

Moments later, as the water began to cool, Tobias returned with a towel, ready to dry her feet. But as he looked up, he froze in place, stunned by the enchanting sight before him.

Chapter 5

Belle Faulkner's eyes sparkled with mischief, her delicate features exuding a captivating charm. Lila's face flushed with embarrassment, while Daisy bit her soft, inviting lip. Tobias Strongwood was overwhelmed by the urge to reach out and move Daisy’s grasp from Hattie’s vulnerable lip.

“What’s wrong, my wife Hattie?” Tobias stammered, his throat dry with desire as he longed to claim the enticing figure of Man Thorn Hattie in his arms. But the anger from his wedding night toward Belle still lingered in his mind; he was afraid she might ignore him forever if he acted too boldly.

Belle rolled her eyes, clearly frustrated. “What do you expect? You pampered my feet until I was a bundle of nerves! You have no idea how tempting that is!”

But perhaps it was a good strategy; the fastest way to deepen their bond was through intimacy. If she could ensnare the Man Thorn’s body to her own, then all of his thoughts would be of her, and he wouldn't even glance at anyone else.

With a playful pout, Belle said sweetly, “Could you, um, please massage my feet a little more?”

Tobias was stunned. He had never heard her speak to him in such a soft manner, her voice sending shivers down his spine. Swallowing hard, he began kneading her delicate feet with a novice's care, using gentle strokes that quickly turned adventurous as a bold urge overtook him. Before he knew it, he had taken one of her cute little toes into his mouth!

“Mmm...” Belle melted into a heap, her strength dissolving as she sprawled back on the bed.

“Tobias, do you love me?” The question slipped out unbidden, and Tobias felt elated at her lack of reproach. He leaned closer, pushing his luck as he allowed his lips to caress up the length of her impossibly smooth legs.

“Ah... why are you doing that? Stop licking, mmm, please...” Belle attempted to push him back, but Tobias took her fingers into his mouth, and she realized she was utterly unprepared for the electric sensations coursing through her. Her patience reached its limit as she shifted and squeezed her thighs together, her misty gaze pleading with him for relief.

“Can I?” Tobias asked, his yearning unrestrained but his respect still intact as he sought her consent.

Belle was taken by surprise; his hesitation was maddening. How could he still ask for permission when the moment was upon them? Her mind raced back to the illustrations she had seen, and she reached out, pressing her small hand against the impressive bulge in Tobias's trousers.

In that instant, Tobias's understanding dawned on him. Of course, she was willing. As her hand found the outline of his arousal, he sprung to life, and with a swift motion, he yanked down his pants, freeing himself. Belle’s eyes widened at the sight before her. Was he truly gifted? This impressive length was deep purple, thick and proud, making it impossible for her to wrap her hands around it with just one.

Tobias gasped as she twitched her fingers. The sensation was intoxicating; it felt euphoric to have her touch him. Belle felt victorious, playful as if discovering a new toy, her fascination with Tobias's body igniting a smoldering excitement.
